Genuinely have no idea what you are talking about with regards Jonny Cooper ? What happened ? Must see it later on....

It's best management and players stay away from interviews saying 'we could of preformed better" and "we've a lot to work on" because I simply don't want to hear it. Live_Wire (Monaghan) - Posts: 40 - 06/08/2017 11:29:44 2029677 Link 0 |

monaghan setting up defensively??...did you not realise that on several occasions dublin actually had FIFTEEN players in their own half. dublin play a defensive and counter attacking game just like everyone else. Lets have no more guff about this.

That's the difference though.. Dublin play a counter attacking game, similar to Tyrone. Monaghan yesterday however set up to defend full stop. Any ball going into the full forward line was to at most 2 forwards facing 4 or 5 backs. The support play was non existent

Great day yesterday but a very disappointing game. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 06/08/2017 12:58:45 2029710 Link 1 |
It's dissapointing to see comments on here that are so biased, McManus actually catches Cooper around the head it should have been a straight red card if anything for striking, yet the same people came on here saying rules are rules and condemning Connolly for touching a linesman chest, get a grip and look at the game without hatred to one team. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 06/08/2017 14:17:45 2029740 Link 4 |
People come on here and berate leinster football and pontificate to us on how poor it is and how we can't get near Dublin and then we get a game like yesterday from what is supposed to be one of Ulster's top teams. They were simply blown away. Tyrone walked through Ulster, Kerry the same in Munster and even The Rossies had it handy in Connacht. There wasn't one decent provincial final this year. I said before on here if Dublin were in any of the other provinces they would have won the championship in that province most of the last few years and I think that stands up to scrutiny. But they are in Leinster and Leinster teams have to deal with them earlier than the rest, while the other teams around the country are battling it out to win their own provinces and at least pick up some silverware. It's easy to look down your nose at leinster football but look around your own province and ask how strong is it in reality. kildare73 (Kildare) - Posts: 854 - 06/08/2017 15:14:48 2029759 Link 3 |
On this thread my prediction was an 8-10 victory for the Dubs. The scoreline reflected where both teams are at, the game did not. seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 06/08/2017 15:32:32 2029763 Link 0 |
Spot on Hill. According to some, Jim told our lads to go out and feign injury. Unbelievable stuff. There is no way Jack would pretend to be injured to get a player booked. Anyone who knows him would tell you that. As for Jonny - I heard it was his neck and considering what he has been through any belt to that area would cause him to need attention. But sure leave them at it. Biased commentary which at times is very ott. We get criticised at any semblance of an opportunity. Par for the course at this stage. One poster even suggested we should not even be considered in the category of an all time great team, so we really need to take such posts with a pinch of salt. Looking forward to the challenge Tyrone will bring and expect our lads to up it quite a bit the next day out. I felt we played within ourselves yesterday but from now on in it has to be at full pelt. Jim and our lads will be ready for the test/tests ahead. And with Connolly back it will add a new dimension to the build up. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3684 - 06/08/2017 15:33:48 2029764 Link 4 |
The difference is....the second best that Leinster could offer were humbled by a Div 3 Ulster team who are at best 3rd/4th in our province. Dublin are head and shoulders above the rest in Leinster and have been for years. Three different teams have one the anglo celt in the last five years... seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 06/08/2017 15:35:36 2029765 Link 1 |
Ah come on a straight red? I thought cooper should not have being coming in late, he certainly was the one who started the confrontation and no doubt knew it was mc. Manus. I thought both should have been booked and get on with it. As it was mc manus only got booked so was good outcome for cooper. I don't think he dived by the way he was entitled to go down Frederick (Louth) - Posts: 479 - 06/08/2017 15:41:14 2029769 Link 1 |
In fairness though kildare went at Dublin and tryed to win the game and caused us problems where as monaghan never tried to win the game they set up to defend all evening and for a division one team which has been in quarter finals several times it was poor to go out and not have a go at this stage ad what's the point in getting to the last eight and keeping score down?

A. Tyrone walked Ulster. B. How many times in those last five years would Dublin have won the Anglo Celt cup if they were in Ulster? That's my point.

And if you want to use your logic it took your lads an hour to catch a division 4 team. Then you ran into the Dublin and found out what you were really like. We got closer to Dublin than Monaghan did. So easy with the comparison there my friend.

You have no point. Kildare are obviously improving but you had 2 games under your belt when you played Dublin not 5. Did you ever think you just had the legs and fitness for it and were more able to have a go? In any event 6 points you lost by and what difference did it make. You never looked like winning and neither did Monaghan. Monaghan still won against Carlow and did what was needed. Monaghan comfortably beat down. Kildare should have been able to deal with Armagh by anyones logic but they could not. Ulster teams were 3 from 8 of the QF berths....No Kildare, no Meath etc. You only have to play Dublin once so why can't they make it to the QFs if its all a case of you having to deal with Dublin? The last time a second Leinster team was in the QF was 2015...How did that go? seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 06/08/2017 16:27:58 2029781 Link 0 |
How many times would Dublin win the Anglo Celt? I don't know and neither do you and neither of us ever will as its a ludicrous position to take in making a point. How many times would South Africa win the 6 nations? How many times would Celtic win the FA cup? How many times would Argentina win the Euro championship? We can do this all day but its a nonsense. seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 06/08/2017 16:31:37 2029782 Link 0 |
South Africa, Argentina and Celtic don't constantly go on about the state of their games in their respective codes and countries, unlike people on here who don't have to deal with the best until much later on. My original post was about the strength inside each individual province but you skated happily past that because you can't stand up your argument for Ulster. Unless you want to argue Dublin aren't the best team in the country and haven't been for the last few years, I think we can venture a guess those 5 Anglo Celt cups you talked about would have all gone to Dublin given their dominance around the country. The have just come off the back of a 35 game unbeaten run and it wasn't all achieved against leinster teams, everyone had their go and failed. And it wasn't a an Ulster team that stopped it either. My point is when Monaghan, like ourselves, went up against Dublin you too failed easily. If anything our display was at least more creditable.

Monaghan the most overated team in the land.a team many talk up every year and i can never see the reasoning behind it.they were never going to get near dublin in croke park at this stage of the championship..to think people on HS thought they would trouble us and give us a game.never going to happen..ulster football will be dominated by tyrone now for the next few years..donegal monaghan armagh will get nowhere near them.and thats credit to tyrone for getting their act together and putting together a team that will compete for an all ireland 'a team that will be relishing taking dublin on in a semi final.they wont fear playing dublin like most do.
