I notice how they are very quick to stop other threads..it was inevitable that someone would bring it up so...I seem to remember us having a fairly forgetable 6 nations last year on the back of a very disappointing world cup yet 2 documentaries!

"they're very quick to stop other threads". You seem to be suggesting that the Hogan Stand editors are part of this great rugby PR conspiracy. Now that's taking things too far!

Call for Ideas

GAA-related programming to complement our Live GAA coverage across the Championships.

Budget: Up to €350,000 maximum

RTÉ Sport is the sole free to air broadcast partner of the GAA for the All-Ireland football and hurling Championships 2017-2021, and is looking for innovative and engaging programming ideas to complement our live coverage.

Types of programmes which played in this genre over the years include Breaking Ball, Park Live, Road to Croker, The Committee Room, Championship Matters and Thank GAA it's Friday.

We have a variety of slots available which can accommodate a number of different options:
. A mid-week or weekend series during the Championships or
. A behind-the-scenes mini-series during the Championships or
. GAA related documentaries which could play in November/December.

We will pay particular attention to proposals which
. are truly innovative;
. make creative use of new or existing presenting talent;
. demonstrate a full understanding of the unique nature of the national games and their place in the hearts of an Irish audience;
. come with clear and deliverable 360-degree digital/social plans as part of the proposal.

In brief, consider what you would enjoy as a GAA fan, match it up with the allocated budget and send it into us.

The successful proposal will broadcast in 2017, and there may be an option of it being re-commissioned for 2018 & 2019.

We ask, in the first instance, that producers submit ideas into the eCommissioning system:
https://e-commissioning.rte.ie/SWIFT.Web/skins/rte/login.aspx
under the programme category: Sport "GAA 2017"

Closing date for submissions is 12 noon on 27th of March 2017. (STRICT DEADLINE)

Fair dues to ormond for finding this - -- now lads ye have a choice ye can moan and whinge about it - or ye can do something about it and put in a submission -

"This is not Rugby"

was there any documentaries last year -i dont remember any repeat of the 2015 all ireland final programme, now in saying that youve had the toughest trade, thank gaa its friday, the geansai , pairc life, the henry shefflin one winning , plus on radio - the championship and the marty squad -- i know in the past theyve usually had one on both all ireland winners and and all ireland final one - i know for 2015 they had a behind the scenes one where the ref was miked up

how about a movie unlimited heartbreak based on henry martins book of the same name re limerick hurling since 1973 --- that be a horror film for me

You keep listing off stuff like this as if there aren't the equivalent shows for rugby as well. There's rugby on TG4 as well but you act like there isn't.

Because rugby is way less popular than gaa so why would they show as much? This seems lost on you consistently..2 documentaries about 2 test matches is a bit much..I'd hope Vodafone are paying rte a lot

janesboro (Limerick) - It appears that you still have not copped on that there is 20 times plus more folk in this country playing GAA games than rugby so obviously much more popular and one would expect significant more coverage.
