I meant THIS particular Mayo team. Of course I know we have 3 All Ireland senior titles already.

14/03/2015 Mayo 0-10 Dublin 2-18.... I am sure there were similar threads back then like this one... MURPHB33 (Dublin) - Posts: 166 - 24/03/2017 15:01:38 1970727 Link 0 |
The first thing a new manager should do is look around the county and county men playing outside the county and pick a number of players, then whittle it down until you get some sort of panel, you do not pick your own club players and neighbouring club players, by doing that players start believing they have some sort of say in the dressing room because they know the manger well which is the nonsense that currently going on, this player has to start, that player has to start otherwise we will play s##te and lose and you'll be out of a job riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 25/03/2017 20:24:06 1971002 Link 0 |
If Tyrone had Mayo's forwards they would be All Ireland contenders. Mayo look very, very good when going forward. Tyrone are clueless beyond the midfield. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9688 - 26/03/2017 15:32:37 1971164 Link 0 |
Mayo's lack of top forwards has been the main reason they haven't got over the line in the AI final so i dont know why that would benefit Tyrone.

Tyrone kicked it away, Mayo very lucky to win this one , why did it take Mayo so long to replace Boland and Moran . ?? culmore (None) - Posts: 1398 - 26/03/2017 16:51:31 1971202 Link 0 |
Exactly, the Tyrone mindset is still stop THEM from scoring. Then when Tyrone do have chances they have forgotten how to score and miss 80% of them. Mayo looked very lethargic at times but still showed Tyrone that when they did get the few chances they took them.

Good character shown by Mayo today in fairness to them, not easy go there and get a result, and they were under pressure. Tyrone really needed to win that, they have work still to do. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8571 - 26/03/2017 17:20:59 1971252 Link 0 |
Think he means a free taker, they would have been in the final last year. Cillian o Connor is vital to Mayo though!

It's not often many of us agree with Brolly but in this instance he's correct - Tyrone really need to freshen things up at the top - too many players getting too many chances and clearly not good enough - still no proper freetaker - inside forwards not man enough to win ball and players like McCrory getting too much game time when their not county standard. I want to see Ulster teams do well and it looks like Donegal are the standard bearers again with a bunch of young players.

There will be lots of people disappointed that Mayo won going by comments in recents days. Great battling performance by Mayo. They sat there and took the chance right at the end.....a bit like the championship game last year. I don't think Tyrone have the firepower up front to win Sam. They are excellent in defence and breaking at pace but missing that bit up front. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 26/03/2017 18:00:34 1971286 Link 0 |
Not going to happen with the man in charge and the backroom he has built around him. Too many boyband players who seem to be happy with the prestige of being on the tyrone team. I can't understand how some of the players being sent out are the best that is available and are they really busting the chops of the lads that aren't getting game time. Definitely something or somebody needs to being making some sort of changes for the better or we might get a couple of qualifier games if we're lucky.

if we are going to be beaten at least go down fighting and showing a bit of backbone. This bloody stop them from scoring and the not knowing how to score is b*******.

Agree that what seems to be the general consensus of many Tyrone fans - question for you - why don't they try that big McNulty fella in FF and lift a few balls into him as an option - that would make other teams think when setting up defensively - this one dimensional back and forward play they are now adopting is beginning to look like Cavan a few years ago and is easier to defend than getting ball in quickly to the danger area?

Tyrone have always been about stopping the opponent but they used to have clsss like O'Neill, Dooher, Canavan, Mulligan up front.

It was obvious today that Mayo have the better footballers in their county team than Tyrone have. Mayo much more silky and more talented group of players. They just have that issue of croke park finals but are a great side. Tyrone, still looking like a fifth best team in the country. Little evidence of progression. Perhaps a personal change is needed, lost count of the wides. cacsmckilly (Tyrone) - Posts: 1294 - 26/03/2017 18:38:05 1971321 Link 0 |

Long ball into big full forward doesn't work. Too many defenders back, ball breaks and it's swept up. If Cavanagh and Murphy don't play in there McNulty doesn't stand a chance. Maybe for the last 5 mins if a goal is needed you may get lucky. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2087 - 26/03/2017 18:47:26 1971328 Link 0 |
