All-Ireland Senior Football Championship 2017

It's a bit ridiculous that Sligo might have 2 championship games won before other teams kick a ball, playing in the smallest province. The sooner the provincial championships are done away with the better. It's unlikely that they will beat Mayo but the NY game should stand to them and I've taken 10/1 with Ladbrokes on them pulling off the shock.

It's amazing the much talked about Ulster championship and it's ultra competitiveness has seen the three games have three one sided matches with wins of 9points 11 points and 16 points.
yet the much maligned munster championship has seen two games with both games having only a single point separating the teams.

Agree, and I see RTE are only showing one game next weekend and its Armagh v Down even though they could easily have put on Louth v Meath and Laois v Kildare as a double header on the Sunday game.

In fact looking at the fixture lists and what's advertised to be shown, over the course of the first five weeks of this year's championship you have an Ulster game being shown live every weekend. Monaghan/Fermanagh, Derry/Tyrone, Armagh/Down, Cavan/Monaghan, Tyrone/Donegal.

I think that's far too much coverage being given to one provincial championship.

In contrast the only Munster football game being shown by RTE before the Munster final will be Cork v Tipp.

Actually both Louth v Meath and Kildare v Laois would be cracking games to show, the intensity and edge to both games would have given the sg a much needed boost.
Now that been said Meath v Louth would still be one sided with Meath winning comfortably, :).
No I expect both to be close games.

BBC will be showing those Ulster games live anyways. RTE are probably just looking to save a few quid by using their feed.

i know football is in a bad place at the moment but if RTE got their act together and used a bit of common sense when choosing which games to show live on the Sunday it wouldnt look as bad. Whoever decides what games they show live needs the boot and this thing of replaying 20mins of the earlier live game on Sunday night and 2 minutes highlights of other games does my head in.
Would love to see both leinster championship games this Sunday on Tv

Yeah but the whole country knows kerry are going to walk Munster just like Dublin will Leinster. If you took Kerry n Dublin out of both provinces they'd be great championships. At least up north even doh the football is brutal we don't know whose going to win.

Would agree with that , the highlights should be of games not shown getting the most coverage, while live game should be a quick recap.

Love to see monaghan getting to a semi final this year at least. It would be tough going having played in the preliminary in Ulster. I still fear our neighbours Tyrone. At the minute ourselves and Donegal seem to hold the aces but as we have learned down through this past 15 years.. Write Tyrone off at your peril.. Look at how they mastered 2008. I d give you nothing for them last Sunday. I wouldn't be fool enough to Base any opinions on that performance. Harte gave his two forwards a run out in the last 10 minutes.

Well if that's the case, and it probably is, the GAA should be stepping in and reminding them that as the national broadcaster they should have a commitment to show a much more even balance of games across all 4 provincial championships.

There's only three teams in Ulster who will believe they can win it out.
Tyrone Donegal and Monaghan the others aren't at their level. At least the games in munster between the teams not involving Kerry are close.
the games in Leinster not involving Dublin have been close the ones in Ulster have been dour for last good few years, the only appeal was that they were close affairs because both sides played negatively it lead to that happening but now Tyrone Donegal and monaghan are realising if they attack they will put these teams away and not make hard work for themselves

Agree 100%, both those games should be reasonably close and very entertaining. 2 local derbies too. Would be much better to watch than another Ulster game.
Only problem is if RTE were to show both Leinster games, then one would have to clash with the hurling on SKY on Sunday. I'd imagine that probably wouldn't be allowed happen by the GAA.

Yeah but i can twist that again and say if Down drew Derry it would be close or Fermanagh v Antrim or twist all them games around and youd get close games.

Mayo will win Connaught
Dublin will win Leinster
Kerry will win Munster

Will all know Dublin will hammer Carlow Saturday yet the powers that be keep playing these competitions. I can tell without a doubt If Dublin were drawn Carlow in 7 years time will still hammer them. I'm not disrespecting Carlow it's just the way it is.

Yeah but I'm not praising the other provinces unlike the constant praise that Ulster is so much better when in reality it's the same thing as the other provinces.

The Ulster Championship is living on reputation and past glories. To be truthful it's totally crap and one sided now.
