The crying

Funny, everyone thought David Brady was on a wind up with his AOS to mark Star. It kept Kerry away from hitting in 50/50 high balls, but Aidan looked like a fish out of water otherwise. Donaghy scored a decent point from the Hogan stand side, but Aidan had peeled off him to cover the middle giving him a free shot when other players were moving to cover the same space. It was like he was playing FB by numbers. He's not a fullback. Barry Moran knows far more about playing back there and would equally discourage the high ball option. He made the bench today and AOS needs to use his abilities where damage can be done. 2012 and 2013 could have been so different if Andy had been fit. Only really got back on track last year. Thought Deegan wasn't great today... will see if things looked a bit more clearcut when I watch the game on the player. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 20/08/2017 20:08:16 2035710 Link 2 |
If only. It's not in a hotel either, a marquee in boho. I'm praying the data can do 70 minutes of gaa action on the 4g.

Anyone else think Rochford put the wrong brother back there? Big seamus would be more solid defensively than Aidan. Aidan got sold dummies quite easily and was out of position quite a bit. Going forward Aidan offers more than his brother yet Rochford had them the other way around. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 20/08/2017 20:37:54 2035725 Link 0 |

A thrilling game with some great patches of football despite the greasy ball and very slippery underfoot conditions. Difficult to know how the replay will go. No doubt there will be some changes by both managers - mainly positional although Kerry may go further. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 20/08/2017 21:11:17 2035743 Link 0 |
Don't think either o se is a full back tbh I'm sure Kerry were delighted to see Aos in the fb line for the entire game And it's been a while since donaghy was left on for an entire match !!! rossy15 (Roscommon) - Posts: 616 - 20/08/2017 21:22:53 2035756 Link 0 |
Donaghy just played out in front all game as soon as he saw Aidan in on top on him. He did a lot of damage and was involved in a lot of Kerry's scores. Aidan could have been useful up the field running at that Kerry defence imo. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13707 - 20/08/2017 21:55:23 2035761 Link 0 |
AOS must have a pain in his back side jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 20/08/2017 22:10:26 2035765 Link 1 |
Mayo totally threw this away today cjx (Tyrone) - Posts: 270 - 20/08/2017 22:12:23 2035766 Link 2 |
I'd put Donnie Vaughan on Donaghey the next day, thought he was outstanding today. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 20/08/2017 22:24:42 2035768 Link 0 |
Would agree with Ciaran Whelan in questioning whether this Kerry team is good enough under Fitzmaurice. He has questions to answer in relation to today's defensive display, not as if their frailties weren't flagged before this. mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1044 - 20/08/2017 22:36:30 2035770 Link 1 |
Have to agree Mayo threw this game away, O'Shea spending the entire game at full back was daft, taking off our best player breaking the line Colm Boyle was ridiculous, Kerry will learn more from this game and will improve, I feel Mayo have missed their chance. Rumours that Cormac is back for the replay riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 20/08/2017 23:15:55 2035781 Link 1 |
Mayo should have won today, can't believe Kerry will be as poor defensively again. Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 20/08/2017 23:42:52 2035788 Link 0 |
He was taken off today (not with long left mind).

Advantage to nobody. Will be a kick of a ball in it next week. Powerful game of football. Kerry would be in big trouble without Paul Geaney the best forward in Ireland bar none. salvador (Roscommon) - Posts: 439 - 21/08/2017 00:38:55 2035803 Link 0 |
Let your Jim worry about Tyrone and we'll worry about our game

Mayo's old failing of not putting the opposition to the sword while in a position of strength came back to haunt them AGAIN. Over the past 5/6/7 years they have had teams at their mercy time and time again but they just don't have that streetwise ruthlessness to finish them off. I fancy Kerry in the replay by 5+ points. Love the way everyone says Mayo threw it away...we were a point down in injury time. We are as good if not better than this Kerry team. We will win the replay...I'm confident yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11229 - 21/08/2017 02:33:46 2035812 Link 0 |
