We live to fight another day, hopefully can't be as bad again. A dry ball now next Saturday and we might pull through. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 20/08/2017 18:46:02 2035666 Link 0 |
Two more minutes with subs & injury should have been added, he bottled it, didn't want grief by letting one team winning it at the death.

Didn't you think Mayo had to work harder for frees - I thought Kerry got their frees a lot easier.

Vaughan should of walked for ankle tap in first half. He didn't. Swings n roundabouts. Hugely entertaining game in awful conditions. I wonder will the 6 day turn around catch Mayo on their 9th championship outing. They have got to feel it. I thought it was there for them for taking. Kerry on the other hand needed a game like that to get them back up to speed. Conditions can't be as bad again, can they? What a weekend of football to look forward to next week A Aido69 (Dublin) - Posts: 381 - 20/08/2017 18:53:54 2035671 Link 0 |
Cracking game in fairness and more money for GAA. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 20/08/2017 18:56:42 2035672 Link 0 |
Great game played in poor conditions. Some great points. One thing though. I felt Deegan was too whistle happy and had a poor game. He just wouldn't let the game flow. Too many soft frees given to both sides. avonali (Dublin) - Posts: 1974 - 20/08/2017 18:56:46 2035673 Link 1 |
Either that or he wanted a draw :D

Great game. Fancy Mayo for the replay, Keegan and AOS had little impact today, can't see that happening next week. if Mayo are so worried about the high ball into Donaghy, would it not be better put the order O Shea on him to disrupt. Had AOS been further forward today, that full back line of Kerry's would have been further exploited. mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1042 - 20/08/2017 19:09:35 2035676 Link 0 |
A draw is fair.I won't complain.Let the best team win next Saturday.

If Sheehans free goes over he plays on but it didn't and I'm happy he blew it up.

As a neutral, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. However, I thought Maurice Deegan was very hard on Mayo - akin to Cormac Reilly in the 2014 replay!! Looking forward to the replay, though - a feast of football in Dublin next weekend! football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 20/08/2017 19:36:09 2035691 Link 1 |
I think you're missing the point I was trying to make It was a reckless challenge that was rewarded with a free to Kerry Yes an ankle tap is a black card Didn't see it might have been in 1 of the numerous GAAGO hiccups But a challenge like that is Not swings and roundabouts

Exciting game of football yes but to say it was a great game is way off the mark. Let's not confuse exciting with great. Two distinctly average teams who served up an exciting team but the overall standard of football was poor enough. Lifford Gael (Donegal) - Posts: 1925 - 20/08/2017 19:40:41 2035696 Link 2 |
Mayo are better than Kerry I think and certainly were today. An average enough Kerry team very reliant on Donaghy and with a really weak full back line.Hard to call the replay.Kerry will improve but can't see there being much in it.Perhaps extra time like 2014.

Kerry win more matches/replays than they lose ... fact ! They lost replays in Munster semi final to Cork (2002), a Munster final to Cork (1987) and an All Ireland to Offaly (1972) so they are due to lose one any time soon. After such a close game both teams will regret scores that got away. David Clarke's brave save stopped a certain 3rd Kerry goal and the kingdom missed 3-4 points from good positions. Mayo missed their first close in free from 20m off the post and were unlucky not to get another first half goal with three close in chances in the same attack. Both Kerry goals came from Mayo kicking possession away and Mayo had a justifiable claim for a throw ball when Jack Savage got booked for retaliation but the free was allowed and Kerry converted. Looking forward to another great contest next Saturday. Curlew66 (Roscommon) - Posts: 500 - 20/08/2017 19:50:24 2035699 Link 0 |

Conditions were very difficult today leading to some mistakes, Nothing average about those teams though, Hope next week end is dry for both games. Curlew66 (Roscommon) - Posts: 500 - 20/08/2017 19:59:21 2035705 Link 0 |
