Kerry v Mayo

Replying To clondalkindub:  "Underrated how? He's a great work horse for Kerry that kicks a point a game give or take but compared to the lethal forwards Kerry have had/have and they've had a lot he's way down the list. I think Kerry supporters are happy O Brien is starting he brings blistering pace and will give the Mayo defence way more to worry about than Walsh would."
You need a mix of work horses and silky skill in a forward line.

Haven't seen Donnacha play well for a while, maybe it's a good thing!?

Donnacha has lost a yard of pace but his work rate is still insane and he never stops running and making space or providing an outlet for his colleagues. He is a big loss IMO.

O'Brien still has something to prove if he wants to nail down a starting spot. He has blown hot and cold in the past but he looks sharper this year than ever before in fairness to him. He will add a bit of pace to that half forward line anyway. I'll be very interested to see how he does from the start on Sunday.

He's been out of sorts this year for sure realdub but even when things weren't going well for him against Galway he never stopped and ended the first half with a super point from a move that he started on our own 45 and was there to finish the move . He went on to have a fairly good second half.

He's very underrated but he's the first name on the team sheet when fit.

Why is there no footage of the semi and replay from 2014 on YouTube or whatever, does anyone know where I could get to see it?

I would agree with what a lot are saying about D. Walsh, very underrated, gives a lot offensively and defensively and is in the trench fighting and leading when momentum isn't with Kerry.

Thought he was one of Kerrys best last year myself. Think he will be missed.

Its on the kerry gaa website, in the forum section. Someone posted a link on page 15 of the forum to the full match of the replay in Limerick yesterday.

I tried to find them on youtube but I cant find any of them matches from 2014.

Interesting subtitles!

It was some game. Much better atmosphere than had a similar sized crowd been in Croker. A bar across the road to quench the disappointed thirst before the walk to town.

A game befitting of a final really.

I hadn't seen it back in full since I watched it on record that night when I eventually got home.

I put it on this morning and actually found myself getting nervous again during it even though I knew we won!!!! In fairness Kerry got a couple of soft frees during the first bit of extra time, but then again Star got fouled for a few after that and they weren't given at all.

Anyway if tomorrow is anyway as good as it, it will be some game. Hope the referee has a decent match.

But Maurice Deegan is the ref, i wouldn't get my hopes up. Should still be a good game

Based on the forecast I'm afraid this will be a fairly poor game.
Croke Park is the worst pitch in the country when it's wet let alone the monsoon predicted.

Croker is a nightmare alright for players when slippery (remember the 2015 final?) Think it will be tight and edge of the seat stuff which is what we need, can't wait for it

Weather could turn the pitch into an ice rink. Not sure which team the bad conditions will suit better ..

I think kerry will win as they are a much more consistent team.
They beat galway by 8 in 3rd gear. Mayo have failed to beat galway in consequtive years.
Kerry have a much better ff line .. mayo a better half back line.

I think donaghey will be held ok. Think could a big game for JOD.

Mayo would need to play a near perfect game to win, players and mgmt.

Going for kerry by 3. Hope im wrong ..

Read all the previews and analysis and bar the odd wind up (Brolly), nearly everyone gives Mayo little or no chance. All the talk is about the favourites and the ways they can approach the game and hurt Mayo, with our lads having one dimension, the running game, which most believe Kerry will have done enough homework to shut down. Lucky none of this matters of course, except to maybe build a bit of pressure on the Kerry lads if Mayo get a decent start. Everyone expects some changes to both starting lineups, with a couple of these maybe chosen with conditions in mind. Wouldn't even be too surprised to see Ger Caff in at number 3 tbh. His problems this year have all been against forwards running onto ball and turning him, which is hardly Donaghy's strength. Mind you Kerry could choose to drop Donaghy to the bench for the start in the hope that our preps have been fixated on him. Paul Geaney would still be an aerial threat anyway, plus he's got good movement. Harrison will mark Geaney no matter where Kerry play him. Like everyone else, I hope Mo Deegan gives us nothing to talk about. He'll have calls to make, that's for sure in what will be a very physical contest. Safe travelling to all today. I have a lot of faith that Mayo's form has turned the corner and the lads will be very fired up, with 2014 still burning. I'm backing us to win by the odd point in 5.
