Many Mayo fans were clapping a great score from McManus. He is a great player. If only we had him.

For God sake man, Moran would want to have the strength of the Hulk for some fella to fall over from that little contact. Good win for Monaghan and great performance from Kerry (well for the first 60mins anyway). If Mayo lose down in Tralee next Sat they could be in real trouble. Not sure if you seen this view of it, but this is how McManus's point looked on EirSport. https://youtu.be/FoDdGSU2xPw patk (Monaghan) - Posts: 936 - 05/02/2017 19:37:51 1952297 Link 0 |
Just seen the Kerry game , posters who aren't concerned yet should be after that Kerry performance , I don't know if Donegal are terrible or Kerry are Just awesome ? But a forwards line with Geaney and JOD on fire is terrifying for every other county. Honestly this Donaghy should retire and get out of these players way these guys are kerrys future and it looks scary for everyone else. I know it's only February so things can change but from what I've seen so far Kerry will take serious beating this year. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 05/02/2017 20:05:24 1952316 Link 1 |
Yerra get away out of that Clondalkin, or I'll sue you for cute hoorism infringment!! Looked decent today alright early doors yet though. Was great to see James and Paul injury free. Was impressed with Moran and Crowley and Young O'Sullivan. Still think that half forward line picked was too defensive with the Summer in mind. Good to see Brendan O'Sullivan come on. Mark these words, if he can stay injury free he has the potential to be up there with Jacko, Darragh at al. A beast of a man. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 05/02/2017 20:42:29 1952371 Link 0 |

Lots of positives today for Kerry. Great to see JOD back, it can't be overstated how big a loss to Kerry he was over the past two seasons with all those injuries, and all the young lads did well. The one concern is the middle. We get cleaned there any time we play Dublin and it's hard to see it being any different this year. They went with a very athletic half forward line today which helped, and Moran was also tremendous IMO but there are bigger tests to come. We are going in the right direction overall though. Mayo lost their first three games last year. I agree though...we need a result in Tralee to seas the pressure. Won't be easy but il be there. Tralee is practically booked out.

They'll be a big crowd there alright, great to get a few Sat night games for once. It's bout 4 years since we had one in Austin Stacks. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going... TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 05/02/2017 21:43:44 1952439 Link 0 |
Curtain raiser for a possible All Ireland semis up next, Kerry vs Mayo and Dublin vs Tyrone, looking forward to those games. Kerry looked great today, serious mobile unit upfront with Geany and JOD, hope Enright is ok as well, he was unlucky not to get an all star last year to my mind. Dublin v Kerry final. Dublin to win. Tyrone won't be receiving any points next wkd. Neither will Mayo or Cavan. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 893 - 05/02/2017 22:24:30 1952469 Link 3 |
I heard he was ok, and yes he should have had an All Star last year.

Kerry were very impressive today but this was against a very young, nervous and inexperienced team with a 19 year old at midfield expected to compete with David Moran. We also lost Frank Mc Glynn, Neil Mc Gee and Paddy Mc Grath late on through injury. We are rebuilding whereas Kerry are looking at An All Ireland. Tougher games ahead for Kerry.

The Hermit honestly you's were scary today Geaney and JOD are Lethal man , Dubs ok but our big bonus is McCaffrey back he is a huge player for us he gives a whole new dimension with his blistering pace opening up gaps for us all over the park. We're a completely different team with him. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 05/02/2017 22:47:15 1952483 Link 1 |
I fully agree... 2 great match ups and a glimpse of the possible match ups later in the year. Looking forward to both encounters. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3684 - 05/02/2017 23:00:50 1952486 Link 1 |
Moran didn't get a black card farney because it wasn't a black card offence. If Moran had tackled him around the waste or foot tripped him then that would have been a black card. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 05/02/2017 23:23:57 1952493 Link 0 |
The one thing I'll watch with interest is the Mayo backline Vs JOD & Geaney. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 05/02/2017 23:36:23 1952501 Link 0 |
I have to disagree with you clondalkin, Kieran donaghy is still one of the most dangerous forwards in the game. He's only 33 and he never had to rely on pace so he could play on for years to come if wants. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 06/02/2017 01:18:57 1952514 Link 0 |
You sound surprised that Kerry were good yesterday.Personnally,i feel if they don't beat us this year, then nobody will.No disrespect to Mayo or Tyrone, but Kerry are our biggest threat. They are still a bit slow around the middle and half forward line is not as strong as Dublin but you can be sure Kerry will have all those boxes ticked for a possible showdown. The Kingdom will be restless until they put one over on us.There is only one team they really want to beat.Donegal in February is one thing.Dublin in September is the ONLY thing that matters to them!

What struck me again yesterday about Kerry was how well they do the simple things. No matter what the situation on the field, invariably the Kerry player will choose the right option and execute the skill with minimal fuss. We showed a bit of inexperience which was to be expected. Running into traffic, getting turned over easily at times, choosing the wrong pass etc etc. What was pleasing though was that the heads didn't drop and we continued to battle until the end even if Kerry had taken the foot off the gas. I felt Deegan was a wee bit sore on us at times. If he'd given a penalty when young McGee was fouled near the end the last couple of minutes could have been interesting. But in fairness, Kerry deserved their win and we can't complain about the final result. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9073 - 06/02/2017 10:06:19 1952578 Link 0 |
