I'd never heard that about "The Boss".

Fair play to all those who've spoke out. ormondbannerman (Clare) - Posts: 13473 - 08/06/2016 21:08:07 1863884 Link 7 |
Fair play Ormond. It takes bravery to recognise there's a problem and even more bravery to face up to it head on and do something about. I was diagnosed manic more than about 30 years ago. Started taking meds in '93 but only started getting my bloods checked in the past 7 or 8 years like I should have been doing regularly. Thankfully have had no up episodes since the meds. Before that though only people close to me might spot if your down. When you're up everyone knows it and can be very embarrasing when they tell you back what you were doing. Sounds like one of those self-help books but honestly a problem shared is a problem halved. Someone else's perspective on what you think is an insurmountable probles will almost always calm your head.

Fair play jimbo.Didn't see the Matrix but i get the basics of your point. It certainly is a tough world to try make ends meet.More hours and less money.Stress city. That adds to the malaise. No doubt.

I don't suffer from depression so I count myself very lucky. I am always the type to look at the glass half full rather than half empty and I always take the positives from something that happened to me rather than the negatives. i know a girl that suffers from it and I would not wish it on my worse enemy. Some days she just stays in her room and will not leave it. She does not want to face the world. To all the posters who have said their piece on here well done because it is not easy coming out and saying that you have depression. The World is changing and mostly for the better, but pressures on young people in particular in the vulnerable mid to late teens is just incredible. To be different, to be unable to conform has a truly double punishment for you. The scares can be permanent, an ill thought word, even being overlooked can say to a person you are actually worth less than others. So I salute people who step forward and speak out, I salute people who support them and make it easy for them. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4892 - 10/06/2016 09:02:48 1864574 Link 0 |
Without going off topic but I don't agree capitalism is the root of depression. Life can be what you make it. Some have it tougher than others. Ask the vast majority of Chinese or North Koreans what they think of the other alternative. Capitalism is far from perfect but it's the best option until somebody comes up with a better system and they will probably not in all our lifetimes.

This is very much why I get "wound up" by not being called Ormond or ormondbannerman

Fair play Ormond. I honestly think people don't mean to be unkind. Unfortunately, I mean no-one here, some people can be a bit cruel and get their kicks from someone else's reaction to them jibing them, probably not having a clue what's going on in the other person's head. Keep your chin up even if it's difficult to do so.

I appreciate your difficulties Ormo and wish you the best with them, but you need to tackle your own issues with "name-calling". If you're expecting the whole world to change to suit you it will always be a problem. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12103 - 10/01/2017 10:49:30 1944493 Link 5 |
There is just no need for this comment man. Whether or not you genuinely believe what you are saying, you still know Ormond struggles with this issue and you still hound him. Bad form.

It was a genuine comment to try to help him but thanks for the input.

Have you been following the threads outside of the main forum at all?

Give him a break. Not easy to post here and say he has a problem. Maybe give him a chance from now on and if it's still happening say it. But less abruptly ?
