Kildare's humiliation of Meath continues...

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Excellent game of football on offer last night with each team giving everything. Unfortunately when the game was in the balance we were on the wrong end of the stick once again but I wouldn't be too downbeat over the result. Had McAnarney stuck over that ball that hit the post I believe we probably would have hung on for the win. There's not a whole lot of difference between Meath and Kildare at the minute apart from their superior middle third in which they won far more breaks than us. No doubt though, if Meath and Kildare meet in the Leinster semi final it'll be an absolute cracker.

Hardly a humiliation? Hard luck to Meath, either team could have won on the night. I enjoyed watching two teams playing good competitive sporting football. Great game and bodes well for both counties in the championship.

cant understand how it can be a humiliation they only won by a point and from what i heard kildare were stronger in the first half and in the 2nd meath looked the sharper and fitter team but kildare held out for the win, maybe humiliation as kildare go unbeaten by meath in so many matches thats all i can think of?????

To be honest Lebowski Jinxy is not the worst of them, I generally have a lot of time for him anyway but this thread is a bit below the belt, but I suppose you do get the odd thread like this every now and then, it's better just to get on with it.

I'd imagine its in response to the "Laois to beat Dublin thread" started by Loyal.

Ah it is of course, himself and Loyal love having a go at each other, I'm sure sparks will be flying again come summer.

I love these exuberant threads that people love generating, there is no humiliation in losing to this Kildare team and never has been, we have been on the wrong side of a few tight games but took plenty of positives from last nights effort as there was for Kildare might I say, cracking game played at Championship pace and I didn't see another game of its quality on the highlights tonight. Here's hoping both teams can manage to meet in the semi final of Leinster, potential to be a real belter.

I don't think you fully understand the word 'humiliation' Jinxy. Now this is a humiliation

Yep it sure was... I was there to the bitter end. So just seeing that clip makes our achievement all the better to be honest. To think that we had the absolute fortitude of conviction and determination to come back after such a defeat, just highlights our triumphant win in 2011.

The sweetest victory of course for me being the semi-final.. I lost an awful lot of respect for Donegal after that match, I think an awful lot of people did and I'll always remember the Donegal man in front of me shaking his head in dissapoinment with how his fellow county men were acting on the pitch.

Donegals antics were all too visible to see. What an embarrassment. I mean even when Donegal coaching staff are running onto the pitch to lambast the ref in order to get men sent off. Well enough said. Donegal's lack of footballing abililty was all too evident when such desperate measures were deemed neccessary.

At least a couple of your players were man enough to face up to their "sporting behaviour". It's a shame that KC was asked to leave the team for doing the right thing.. but that's the Donegal set-up for you. Doing the right thing seems to be far from their mind and well the fans seem perfectly happy with that.

Jeez you Kildare bucks are still wild sore about the QF defeat to us last year. Jinxy, ya must have missed all the cynical ankle-tapping going on when Donegal were still behind near the end of that match?

Jinxypoop is Dublin using Kildare as a stick to beat Meath with. Now dragging Donegal into his nonsense.

Yeah I must have missed that... as did the national media who were of course focused primarily and rather obviously on the behaviour of Donegal.

Which it has to be said to their credit was admitted to by those directly responsible. It's a shame that doing the right thing was punished…

To be fair nobody from Kildare has mentioned Donegal at all in this thread. Indeed the only reason they were brought up is because a Donegal chap posted a link to the Dublin Kery quarter final from a few years ago.

Anyways, massive win on Saturday night, could hopefully be our turning point for the year. Some positives and negatives to take from it for both teams and sets of fans. Defence needs to be much sharper but that'll come with more game time for the likes of Foley, Bolton and MacLochlainn, midfield did well and dominated up until Flynn went off. 18 points, mostly from play, from ten different scorers is very positive at this time of year. Hopefully build on this for the summer and we get the chance to meet again.
