Here you can listen to this boring patronising poster all day if you want. I am not a WUM, I just tell it like it is. If you want me to be to be dishonest and just tell down folk what they want to hear then ok. 'We won't be taking Down for granted that's for sure. They will put up one hell of a fight and we will be lucky to scrape over the line' Wally (Tyrone) - Posts: 912 - 09/07/2017 21:36:40 2013416 Link 0 |
This will be a very interesting game and will be close I think. Both teams have been brilliant so far this year so something has to give. You would expect Tyrone to win but Down can be hard to stop when they get on a roll. The Down full forward line looks very good and will be interesting to see how they fare against the excellent Tyrone full back line. Really looking forward to this match. Green Gold ,,,, nice to see someone talking bit of sense , I know Down will be up for this big time , if they hammer into Tyrone from the start it will be great game , no respect from the out set ,

This game is going to be closer than most people are predicting, but Tyrone should have too much quality for Down. Tyrone's wastefulness in front of goal should keep Down in the game. If indeed Down do 'hammer into Tyrone from the start' in the same manner as they did against Monaghan they may struggle to keep a full quota of players on the pitch. Having witnessed some of the WWF/ MMA tackles conducted by Down players in that game I had a real chuckle to myself when Burns stated that Down aren't well versed in the 'dark arts.'

My heart says Down but my head says Tyrone, should be a great game, Down have to keep going were they left off against Monaghan, Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2705 - 09/07/2017 22:47:50 2013507 Link 0 |
Down to win this game. When Tyrone set up tactical analysis of all potential oppositions this year, in other words who they were likely to meet en-route to an Ulster Championship, Down were not one of those teams. Few seen Down beating Armagh, and nobody seen them coming past Monaghan. This means Tyrone will have spent the last couple of weeks patching together what they could on Down, and I have no doubt Down will be well up for a crack at Tyrone. I'd love to see Down win it and that's not just to do with our rivalry with Tyrone, I've many connections in that county and they're a great GAA people - a successful and competitive Down does wonders for the Championship summer, just like Meath, Galway, Cork, Armagh and it would be great to see regularly competitive again as well. Tyrone must win this or their season will have been a failure. Derry, Donegal, Down, Dublin or Kerry are all opponents Mickey Harte will study and adapt too. But the most important change this season is how Tyrone have tilted the balance between defence and attack. The way they play the running game with men on the shoulder is good to watch and very efficient. Mickey also seems to have overcome the problem of "don't have an outstanding attacker" by spreading the scores over the whole team. I doubt whether he will win an all-Star because the critics don't value it but Colm Cavanagh pays the sweeper role better than anyone else. Sludden, McCann, Donnelly, Harte are all at the top of their game and I can see the value of Mickey's coaching in the way Morgan has improved his overall game and especially his kickout's.

Good man, Gary - you never fail to foretell Tyrone's downfall. Luckily your punditry skills are very rarely on the mark. This time, you've outdone yourself with bizarre logic, but let me try and get this right: So, Tyrone will lose as they know next to nothing about the Down players and system, and will have been all at sea over the last few weeks trying to figure out who Kevin McKiernan and the Johnstons are? Seriously man, lay off the drugs. If you've nothing sensible to write, then why bother?... Thomas Clarke (Tyrone) - Posts: 1002 - 10/07/2017 15:03:06 2014151 Link 4 |
If and when Tyrone win this and if Armagh and Monaghan were to win their respective qualifiers(Monaghan will, Armagh be close), does it mean one of them have to meet again. Frederick (Louth) - Posts: 479 - 10/07/2017 15:33:27 2014190 Link 0 |
Yes your right if Tyrone win then down will play either armagh or monaghan ( if both win there games ) again. I would fancy tipp tho to beat armagh which would mean down play tipp.

Tyrone team delayed until 4 o'clock tomorrow. Must be giving the injured players every chance especially Colm Cavanagh. I would worry massively if Colm is injured. Vital to the way Tyrone. It would be a massive confidence boost for Down if he wasn't playing. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2087 - 13/07/2017 20:35:46 2016259 Link 0 |
I would say the delay in naming the team is out of respect for Pat Darcy RIP former Tyrone County Chairman. Pats funeral takes place tomorrow. Pat was chairman over some Tyrone's best years 2005, 2008 All Ireland wins. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

it's a flaw in the system. Down should not have to met either of these 2 again in the 4th round qualifiers. however that's what you get with the stupid and outdated provincial championships.

Why are some posters gettin so upset by the predictions of other posters. Nobody, and that includes Down supporters, even dared to dream that Down would make an Ulster final never mind win it. I hope you do make a good game of it but I can't see this Down team beating this Tyrone team. Simple as that and I won't even give score predictions but will just say Tyrone will win the game and that's the whole point. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 14/07/2017 08:31:18 2016353 Link 0 |
That's an honest and fair opinion - some Down fans don't like it but what are Tyrone fans supposed to write - that Down are favourites? In my opinion I think it will be a tighter match than Tyrones previous 2 games played by 2 good footballing sides - if Monaghan had beaten Down then it would be a much cagier affair but I hope that's not going to be the case on Sunday even though Down have played very defensively in past 2 games - let the best team win.

Personally I think no more than Dublin v Kildare, it will be a good competitive game for about 50 minutes maybe but the favourites will pull away in the end. I'd love Down to do it but my head says Tyrone by 6+ JoeSoap (Donegal) - Posts: 1432 - 14/07/2017 11:45:30 2016453 Link 0 |
Ya it was the same last year. I think it's the only way they could do it to stop the 6 day turn around for losing provincial finalists. Still seems a bit mad though.
