From the team news I'm going to put my weekend betting 10 quid on a Waterford Wexford Double! Hopefully luckier than last week with the football. Pays out over 6/1 tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 09/02/2017 11:37:34 1953930 Link 0 |
I'm inclined to agree with your predictions - maybe Laois Kerry will go the other way. 1b will be very interesting this year - Wexford will have a big say in it but Limerick v Galway in the last round could be the decider. I think Wexford have a great chance of beating Limerick this weekend but by the time Limerick play Galway I expect we'll be stronger - should be very tight. I'd expect Tipp to win 1a with Waterford and Cork to be hot on their heels, not disregarding Clare or Kilkenny either! Looks likely to be a tough year for the Dubs and would be a surprise if they dont get relegated.

Yep I'd agree on your Limerick assessment. Unsure about Tipp. I've a feeling Ryan wanted to stay in Div 1a last year but didn't want to get to a final. That was my hunch at the time. It's extremely competitive though. KK are the interesting one as they have injuries and need to blood new players on top of that. very surprising they are favourites for the League. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 09/02/2017 12:23:45 1953953 Link 0 |
It was an amazing achievement to retain our Division 1B status last year and to get that historic win up in Offally. But with Limerick, a rejuvenated Wexford and a big fish like Galway swimming around this is going to be a tough, tough campaign. They'll no doubt be a few big defeats for our lads but having the opportunity to play against opposition of this calibre is a huge boon. Anyone else think that 1B has now become more competitive & interesting over the last couple of years? keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 09/02/2017 23:24:45 1954233 Link 1 |
The Kerry v Laois game is arguably the most important game of the weekend, winner has an excellent chance of staying up and the loser more than likely goes down. Surprised Tony Kelly is playing with Clare, I know the club All Ireland is 5 weeks away but I'd be wrapping him of all players in cotton wool, he also has the Fitzgibbon weekend to get over. Never dreamed he would be playing, partial reason I went for Cork. Gary Brennan playing with footballers last weekend was madness as well. The blame has the go with the managers on this one regardless of what the players want. Has League become that important? They have probably a once in a lifetime chance of doing something huge with a club with no history anyway close to this level

I believe that football would be Brennans no. 1 so wasnt really surprised with that. The footballers will need all the help they can get to stay in that division.

Not surprised he's playing at all.In fact,i'd be disappointed if he wasn't.What is he to do?Sit around at home and do nothing?Travel with the seniors and not tog out? Sure he could just as easily get injured training for Ballyea as playing for Clare. Brian Cody doesn't mind his county players playing club games two weeks before championship games. No need to wrap Tony Kelly up in cotton wool just yet.I'd imagine he'll get a couple weeks off before St Patricks Day's big game. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 10/02/2017 13:21:46 1954361 Link 0 |
I understand that too. But two games in such close succession at either ends of the country couldn't be a good idea. Has to be some level of player welfare. Was it just me or was I the only one shaking my head when everyone else was saying he's a great lad? Don't get me wrong I have massive respect for him but I feel the Clare management should do the best thing for him. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 10/02/2017 13:29:28 1954366 Link 0 |
Jack Browne is also selected. I wonder are Niall Deasey & Gearóid O'Connell in the squad too?
