How will you fare? Are you one of the lucky ones with a Season Ticket/Parnell/Cairde Mhaigheo pass? If you are a season ticket holder do you have the required 60% attendance to get one? Do you have your own Premium/Corporate seats? Are you guaranteed a ticket through your club? Or will you have to spend the next 3 weeks begging every person you know to try and get your hands on one? No Parnell pass and depending on others to help me out. Should be ok but like many, won't know til days (was hours/minutes in 2011) before the game. Horrible wait so generally put it out of my mind. Thanks a lot of reminding me of the anxiety, am in bits now :)

I've a Parnell Pass thank God. Nearly lost out on the renewal in May cos I was away. Something that shocked me though is my bro in law has 4 season tix. 1 adult and 3 children. They have all been to all games this year but there has been a rule change and he's only entitled to an adult ticket!!! Surely thats wrong?

Really? I didn't hear that. What's their reasoning behind that?

Have the season ticket. It takes all the stress out of ticket hunting although I will be hunting for family members. It should be noted Mayo and Dublin have huge waiting lists of people waiting to get season tickets. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 29/08/2017 13:15:11 2040035 Link 0 |
My bad. Picked him up wrong. The kids are shy on attendance requirements. Doh!

Bang on. There's always someone here that when a poster says they've been to all the games and can't get a ticket for the final they get the 'if you were a proper fan you'd have the season ticket' response thrown at them. That's not an option for Dublin or Mayo fans, the list is very long i believe and it's a matter of hoping someone doesn't renew to be in with a chance of getting your hands on one.

The problem arises every year because of the gaa insistence on keeping an archaic system of giving tickets all around the country and people who have nothing to do with the counties involved. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 29/08/2017 14:14:48 2040098 Link 0 |
Parnell Pass so sorted but will still be on the hunt for others. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13692 - 29/08/2017 14:38:29 2040115 Link 0 |
Lucky to have my season ticket and not have to worry about hunting for a ticket. It's a nightmare. the_walls (Mayo) - Posts: 495 - 29/08/2017 15:23:00 2040152 Link 1 |
Those of you with a Season Ticket, your email should be in your inbox. GaaGaa78 (UK) - Posts: 285 - 29/08/2017 16:18:23 2040202 Link 0 |
Just got the email from Croker confirming my season ticket qualified (it would want to with 80% league & champo!) DNS16 (Dublin) - Posts: 53 - 29/08/2017 16:28:38 2040209 Link 1 |
Not one person so far mentioned getting a ticket from their club? Strange that Weary (None) - Posts: 249 - 29/08/2017 16:40:36 2040230 Link 0 |
Not that strange considering both counties have the largest subscribers to the Season Ticket scheme. My club gets about 50-60 tickets when Dublin get to the final and has over 400 members so if other clubs are similar it's not surprising at all not to hear people say they'll get theirs through the club GaaGaa78 (UK) - Posts: 285 - 29/08/2017 17:09:33 2040252 Link 0 |
I don't know how it works in other counties but it's hardly strange that no one has mentioned getting a ticket through their clubs in Dublin seeing as no one in Dublin will know weather or not they're getting a ticket from their club until the Wed/Thurs before the game! It's a lottery getting tickets through the clubs. My name came outta the hat in 2011 but not since. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13692 - 29/08/2017 17:20:03 2040258 Link 1 |
Season ticket holder and got the mail an hour ago confirming ticket will be posted. Only missed one league match, away to Cavan, so happy enough. Good chance that we will be outnumbered at this one as loose tickets will probably drop into Mayo hands. Mayo senators will be queueing up demanding their seat! Anyway being there is all that counts. Best of luck to those on the hunt. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4698 - 29/08/2017 17:38:09 2040266 Link 0 |
Clubs are the worst places to look for tickets, they have no fair system of giving them out just a lottery or else Johnny and Mary's of the locality who wouldn't attend a game all year get one. I learned a long time ago your wasting your time with your club for a ticket. have the Parnell pass since and it's brilliant, but the gaa really should be changing their ticketing for all ireland finals as this limiting counties having pass and ticket holders is only holding back support for the games all year. If they allowed more join the schemes you would improve league attendances and provincial championship games and therefore allow supporters who have attended all year get their hands on tickets for their teams final and not some people in counties who have nothing to do with the teams involved. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 29/08/2017 18:02:05 2040285 Link 0 |
Was 15 years getting tickets through the club with little or no problem. Then Dublin started making finals.... DNS16 (Dublin) - Posts: 53 - 29/08/2017 18:27:45 2040306 Link 0 |
