Why are the qualifier games not on TV?

The Mainstream sports media in this country is fairly Rugby and to a lesser extent Soccer orientated. Open any newspaper and you will see page after page of Rugby. And lots of UK football also. Or indeed the, "GAA-Sky Sports deal 'very troublesome and against ethos"' Which was recently signed up to between the two parties for another 5 years and for a sum of 56 million euros, so anyone who doesn't have access to sky tonight for the Meath/Kildare match can twiddle their thumbs. Now, even if RTE wanted to televise the Meath/Kildare game they simply couldn't as it was "exclusive to sky." It's hard to believe that some people like GAA and Soccer, some like GAA and not Soccer, some like Soccer and not GAA and bizzarely some people don't like any sports of any description. And some people would complain if RTE showed all games today live today on TV and the player, or if Sky TV had all the games on or if BBC TV had all the games on. All the talk of rugby and I wouldn't mind but Ireland are hardly mentioned only an amalgamated team touring New Zealand that means damn all to us, there was 6 GAA matches on show today Sky had the late game 7pm Leinster semi but RTE could have shown any of the other 5 games if they were allowed to, the worrying aspect of TV coverage is already the GAA are bending down to Sky with major games being played on Saturday evenings instead of the normal Sunday, they pulled this stunt with soccer in England where they told the Leagues we want a game on at 12 noon, 5pm, Monday nights, Friday nights and the Leagues had no choice but to buckle and the GAA will do the same, they are already starting to talk the talk, bladdering on about showing and promoting our games overseas, ya, how many non Irish throughout this world are watching our games, they may flick it on for a few mins then switch it back to their original channel when the ads are over. How many TV advertisements do you see along the sidelines about TV coverage of games like you see at soccer matches, none, neither RTE or Sky give a sh##e about promoting our games, they see it for ratings and a chance to cash in on a growing market. There are players from our top teams that are recognised in any part of Ireland but overseas nobody knows who they are yet when a soccer player sneezes it makes the papers and news all over the world. Considering soccer is probably the largest by way of popularity and numbers, closely followed by gaa. Rugby is way behind them. I'd watch tiddlywinks if it was on so not complaining too much! And my point is not to set sports against each other I just think that showing Russia v New Zealand or Portugal v Mexico in a totally unimportant tournament is a waste of resources, and that some Irish sport could have been shown instead. Go to a friend. go online and get a stream online. use a friend who has sky and use their online sky go account RTE cant dictate that they show all games.
