Could Cork ladies defeat a male inter-county team?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Obviously not a Division One team, given the lopsided scorelines that often occur during the provincial championships, and the degree of pace and physicality would be overwhelming. But would counties at the lower end of Division Four be vulnerable to the shock, or would the gulf in class between male and female sides still be virtually unbridgeable at adult level?

They wouldnt beat a lads senior club team never mind a county team. Ladies football has improved great lenghts but come on no comparison.

Male players are faster and stronger. Simple as.

They're a great side no doubt but they just wouldn't be as skilful either.

I take my girls to see the Dublin Ladies games and it is a great sport and they are athletes that deserve to be admired for their skill, dedication and character as much as anyone but they wouldn't compete with a Division Four male team.

Quite a few I would suggest - if they were in Leinster they would routinely be facing the Dubs in the Leinster final.

The question asked back in the 00s was whether or not the Williams sisters could compete in male tennis.

Can't remember who the pundit was, almost certain it was John McEnroe, but he said they'd rank somewhere between 1500 and 2000 in the men's world rankings. He used the power of the serve as the main reason.

Agreed and its not a slight on their abilities either , I constantly see young girls in juvenile sections that technically are far a head of majority of boys at same age , equally girls instinctively in games I watch always seem to be less selfish and pick best option , however power strength and speed will always be there undoing

Yeah skill wise you might make a hypothetical argument. But the worst male player in division 4 would be the most effective player in ladies football due to pace and power. Would be a wrecking ball.

I've seen some ridiculous and stupid threads on here but this has to be head and shoulders above all others in terms of ridiculousness. The best ladies football team in the country would not win a game in the all Ireland minor championship even

The Cork women would be lucky to score a point against a Div4 team.
Remember the women use a size4 ball

I would fancy the Kilkenny footballers to give the Cork women a good beating not to mind any meaningful team.

Newsflash. Woman are biologically different.

The Australian national professional woman's soccer team recently played an U15 boys club team and lost 7-0.

Funny enough, I was reading in a magazine a few days ago about an all girls U13 team in Spain that won a league made up of 19 different boys' teams.
