Crazy decision

(Oldest Posts First)

An absolute wrong decision by the GAA to propose a two match ban for Jason Forde. What was his crime?

Once he went near Davey and laid a hand on him, he was going to get suspended too. It was stupid stuff by all involved and cannot believe that 5 days later we are still talking about it!
To be fair to Davey, he has asked that the player not be suspended.
The craziest part is that they can't have the suspension decided, one way or other, this week. Every other sport can do it. The GAA seem to love dragging out controversies into a debacle, why couldn't both be dealt with on Monday night say, suspensions decided, why do we need so many bloody committees to decide suspensions - they either broke the rules or they did not.
It is important to move on quickly from such incidents, people lost their cool, we have all done it, regretted it after, ,take the medicine, or hurry up and sort out an appeal, and move on.
Final point, should GAA have a "warning as to future conduct", give everybody the benefit of the doubt once for something like this, next time the suspension is amplified?

if Davy has a decent bone in his body he should be apologising to the player for this

Crazy decision Tipp Co.Board should not allow the CCCC or CHC walk over them on this and refuse any punishment for Forde.
I know Davy is dissapointed too that Forde has been proposed with a ban.
Tipp Co.Board are known to be soft in the past regarding suspensions but I hope this is one that drags on for a while yet.

Would have been better off laying Davy out, get a ban for something worth the crime then, unlike this nonsense of getting a two game for nothing.

An absolute disgrace of a decision. If Forde gets suspended then the Wexford midfielder should be getting suspended for being "third man in" (I'm glad hes not).

Davy should have got a month and that be the end of it.

No need for the player to get involved in it either. Three dominoes at work...bad refereeing decision, over the top and out of order incursion by Davy, and uncalled for reaction by the player. Both suspensions fully merited.

They were able to change the Hurling Penalties quick enough when it suited them.

Fully merits a two game ban. It was 'bully-boy' behaviour on Forde's part - a big man with a hurl in his hand going to sort out a small man. He should have let the ref deal with the problem, that's why the ref is there.

It is right to suspend the Tipperary player. A terrible mistake by the referee not to give a free out to Wexford
in the first instance which had been obvious. The referee has a lot to answer.

Yeah look whatever the rights and wrongs that went before Davy encroaching on to the field he was wrong and got a deserved ban. Likewise the Tipp lad making his way over to tackle Davy was his own doing and again he cannot complain about any punishment handed down. People have to be accountable for their actions. The real irony is that the catalyst to both reactions which resulted in the two bans is the only person who will walk away from this without scrutiny from the GAA. Go figure!

I agree with Michael Duignan, inter county managers have no business on the sideline. Let the teams get on with it without all the hand bags, hysteria and bullying from Trump-like ego managers.

Amateur game with Professional Gobsh*tes governing it!!! Suspend everyone so the GAA can cover up themselves from this farce. If rules are rules the free out to Wexford should have been given and none of this nonsense would have happened.
I actually didn't want Davy banned either I was hoping more so the officials would be reprimanded for not doing their job.
Not every referee is bad but they were fair rubbish on Sunday.

He won't get suspended TIipp will rightly fight this tooth and nail - I hear the DRA doors opening. If he is suspended there is just one stupid clown responsible for it, which is why non-players should not be allowed onto pitches only in GAA would you get this sort of crap at highest levels.

if forde had not ran up to davy like he did,or if davy had approached him,he would have been ok.once he ran over to him,he was always going to match davys punishment.
i agree with pinkie here, the furore about the incident, and the delay dealing with it,is only prolonging this nonsense over one stupid moment by all involved.
who do we have so many committees for discipline?surely there should be 1 disciplinary committee,i dont get why we have 2/3 either?surely the first one can enforce the rule book, and that is that?
the gaa makes me despair a lot these days.davy was wrong and was rightly punished,by why does the whole incident have to turn into a big furore, trial by media and such a drawn out process?
if forde has to serve a ban, wouldn't he be better serving it this sunday?2 matches after this sunday would surely be a lot worse?the gaa needs to clean up its act when it comes to discipline and start dealing with these things quicker, before they become a saga like this has become.

The referee was WRONG to allow play to continue after the Wexford player was fouled not once but twice. Tipperary were always favourites to win but the second goal was an important turning point leaving the underdogs playing catch up for the rest of the match. The second goal cushion meant Wexford didnt draw level or ease ahead during their second half comeback when they pulled it back to two points.
Davey was WRONG to run onto the pitch, this solves nothing and can lead to chaos.
Two Tipp players were WRONG to approach , obstruct and shove Davey with hurls (albeit held horizontally between two hands, Davey seem to give as good as he got in both clashes)
Three wrongs dont make a right. In hindsight Davey should have been sent off to the stands with possibly a 2-4 weeks suspension. Both Tipp players should have yellow carded and I would love the GAA or referee's spokesperson to state that a free should have been awarded to Wexford (not going to happen).

And that was mid season two so felt in the wrong side of it in both national finals with Kilkenny that year.
