Limerick V Cork

Replying To yew_tree:  "Reality check..? They are all Ireland and league champions. Fact is in any given day any team in Munster can beat each other....it's a great championship. Huge crowd there today and Cork fully deserved win. Cardigan and Horgan were brilliant. I wouldn't be writing Limerick off though."
I wrote them off from the outset... they haven't a hope of beating Tipp and Clare will relish beating them too!!

I think Cork have been consistent so far. Tipp made them look bad 2 games in a row but Cork have put up big scores both games in MHC now and should feel confident of doing the same going forward

Replying To MesAmis:  "Well done Cork. Didn't see the game as was in PP but a huge result for the Rebels.

With a home loss Limerick are really up against it now but a lot of hurling left to be played."
What did you make of Wexford MesAmis?

Hope so. Cork performing like today are hard to stop.
I liked seeing tough challenges going in by Mark Ellis and Aidan Walsh in particular.
Not so much pretty hurling played in defence, but more tough tackling and covering.
Debutant Downey played well at right half back, and there will be a challenge all over the field for places.
Munster hurling is wide open now...Clare are quite capable of beating Tipp...in fact there are no soft games here.
Finally...Pat Horgan performed superbly again today.....like a fine wine. he is improving with age.

Sorry mate. You hardly get to gloat after your failure in Dublin. You arent even in the conversation for the All Ireland.
Cork are always capable and today they performed. Limerick should have emptied more into that first half but we lost most of the individual battles. Donal o Donovans sidlines were shambolic and the puck out strategy was all wrong. But Limerick were beaten all ends up and that's Munster Championship

Eoin gave a masterful display at full back, and Alan ran Limerick ragged.
Well done John Meyler......"
Typo mate it happens

You write us off before every game we play...its boring. Consistent but boring...

As far as you were concerned we hadn't a hope last year either...

Wexford will win nothing with Davy in charge.

It'll be a long time before your lot are dancing at the crossroads again.

This is a Limerick v Cork thread. Today was Cork's day and well done to them. Limerick will bounce back for sure.
So if you want to start another thread where you can regurgitate your hurling wisdom about all things Davy I will happily bite back

Hoggie is immense. Impossible to block or hook and a deadly first touch. He missed a few today but was outstanding again. Cork issue is to get the support cast working with him. Today, Dan Kearney and Harnedy were like new players and Alan Cadogan gave a brilliant performance after he came on.

For Limerick fans, tough luck today. Beaten by the better team by a distance. You are now where we were last week. The lads will watch the video and improve the next day. Limerick have a big say yet.

For Cork, a brilliant morale booster. Needed after last week. Must be forgotten tomorrow though. Waterford next. On todays performance, you would say we will win handy. If players think like that then we could get caught.

Well done Cork hard to believe it was the same team as last week they were outstanding 7 points flatters limerick it should of been way more , Cadogan at full back outstanding his brother the same , this Munster championship is class, now in two weeks limerick go to Waterford both teams fighting for their lives can't wait for it. Tipp flying right now I'd say their the bookies favorites to win it out still early days. Being champions and big favorites to win it again brings its own pressure and limerick really struggled with that today. Still all to play for roll on two weeks time.

I knew there'd be a reaction from Cork but didn't think they'd knock over the all-Ireland champions in their own backyard. Reality check for Limerick, when you wear the crown, teams double their efforts against you - everyone wants to beat the all Ireland champions.

Sometimes losing badly is a blessing in disguise, Limerick are good enough to bounce back and I hope they do. I thought Jackie Tyrell's assertion that they weren't in the "top 3" contenders was ridiculous at the time and I'd hate to think he was right.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Let's just not discuss it on this thread

Thanks EJ. You are right, people should stick to topic. Great win for Cork yesterday, but the season is young yet and a lot of hurling is still to be played. To me Tipp look to be flying now, but I would keep my powder dry about what might happen in August.

Well done Cork.

Very impressed with their work rate and how they planned to dominate both 40's. Disappointed for our lads, great champions and now need to lift it going forward. Three all-Ireland finals before we can even get out of Munster :-)
