Monaghan Vs Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Monaghan for me are the best team in Ulster when it comes to performing in big matches. Monaghan will go out full pelt from the beginning in this one; I see a fair number of goals being scored in this one by both teams. Hope Monaghan will win this one but going for a Dublin win, Should be a great game.
Dublin +4

Dublin have barely kicked a ball

An away game against a team that always performs against Dublin (especially in the league) will no doubt be difficult

I wouldn't be surprised if Monaghan got another good result against Dublin

Tough opening trip but looking forward to it.

Hard to judge as is all opening round fixtures . We haven't seen any of the dubs first team in action yet and monaghan haven't put a proper first team out yet. We will miss naill kerians in the middle very badly and if we don't get someone good to cover us here we will struggle for the whole league I reckon.
I'm goin for a monaghan win by 1 point though.
Would be a great stat to have .beating dublin in the league 2 years in a row .

Apparently the team is being transported to away games this year by helicopter.

Apparently a deal has been sorted out between the county board and Celtic helicopters, the hope is I beleive to aid recovery time.

Monaghan arent the best team in Ulster when it comes the performing in big matches. they can win in Ulster but when they get to Croke Park they wilt. Plenty of evidence to back this up, just look at there record against Tyrone in CP.

Hard one to call. probably the best time to get Dublin. if Monaghan hit them hard and build up a lead early it could be Monaghan's day.

Il go for a draw as its in Clones. I believe its on TG4 so should be a good watch.

Word via Limerick hurlers in Florida or where ever both teams were is that Dublin were flat out over there and in very good shape. Very hard to call this. Mon certainly not at full strength but the sight of a Dubs jersey in the cold seems to flick a switch in Monaghan .... hopeful.

Should be an interesting game , Malachy doesn't need to tweek too much from last year, though midfield will be a problem of some sorts , maybe Frank Connolly or Mealiff could fill a gap , a few options there , seems a stronger team than last year and nothing to fear from any Ulster team in the league at least

Our league form against Dublin has been very consistent, played them 5 times over the last 4 years. The first game in 2015 we had already qualified for the semi's and were poor, the following week we only lost by a point (should have won it). Anyway our aggregate score for the last 4 competitive league games is 3-59 for and 3-63 against. That's consistent.

We have no idea where either team is at at this time of the year, but I suspect that having beaten them last year in Croke Park may well have Dublin ready for us, if "Mon 79" is right and they are training hard then we could ship a heavy defeat if we ourselves are not ready. It is probably best to play them first for a number of reasons. I think we will be ready, point or two either way. Giving a cold dry day so should be a good game.
Enjoy the trip

Dublin team prediction for Sunday

1. Stephen Cluxton
2. Jonny Cooper
3. Philly McMahon
4. Michael Fitzsimons
5. Eric Lowndes
6. John Small
7. Jack McCaffrey
8. James McCarthy
9. MD McAuley
10. Paul Flynn
11. Diarmuid Connolly
12. Niall Scully
13. Con O'Callaghan
14. Dean Rock
15. Paul Mannion

Kilkenny is still away, as far as im aware everyone else is available. The obvious question is Connolly, heart says he wont play again but I predict he will for the craic.

Probably wont be quite as strong as that starting, but id imagine all 15 of those guys will be in the match day panel/
