Monaghan V Kerry

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Just checked I think the bookies odds are way off for this game, it's an even enough game in my book and Monaghan would be slight favourites considering home advantage and Kerry are coming of the back of a defeat with a 6 day turn around. Maybe this Kerry team aren't as good as people imagined, if they still have to go back to rely on an aging CD it doesn't bode well for their All Ireland hopes."
If Kerry play my grandmother and it helps us win thats all
that matters and win we will u should be worried aboiut ur
own county there race for Sam is over they wont beat Tyrone

Replying To OrielAbu:  "Really looking forward to this game, as much as I enjoyed the randomness of the locations in the qualifiers, it will be good to be in Clones. I don't think Monaghan will underestimate Kerry, think Malachy is doing a great job at keeping boys focused ... one game at a time."
To be honest Monaghan are average enough couldnt beat
Fermanagh beat a Kildare team who were beaten by Carlow
as poor as Kerry were we were only a point behind Galway
hitting 70 minutes and we were poor if Kerry improve 10%
they will beat Monaghan i think Monaghan are believing
there own hype that they are some kind of a super team
what did MCmanus do last week not alot if Kildare had there
shooting boots on they would have won

You may ask your granny to say a few prayers for ye so cause ye will need them all in Clones on Sunday, by the time Monaghan are finished with ye ye'll be running like scalded cats back to the Kingdom,
You're right though on the Donegal front, we haven't a hope of beating Tyrone in Ballybofey, anyway we have to play away this weekend again in the Hyde and that's no easy to place to win either, we'll be lucky if we come 4th in the group at this rate.

Kerry are seriously over-hyped this year and living on past glory. Monaghan to win.

I think the move for Kerry would be to start Donaghy, Drew Wylie isn't totally fit or fast enough and it showed at times against Kildare. If they start the same forward line as week I can see nothing but a Monaghan defeat.
This is our time to shine.

Replying To patk:  "Galway are on the right track after a result like that at weekend, but they still have a bit to prove at the business end of the championship, as we do ourselves obviously. You're talking like they're an established fixture in semis and finals, they haven't even made the semis this year just yet."
It's not that there an established finalist or semi finalist it's just I've seen both teams and I cannot see where Monaghan are " more advanced "that's all.
Ye have every chance if ye play to the best of your ability against Kerry but Galway have beaten Kerry also and made the league final. Nothing against Monaghan but I was just looking for some more detail on the remark about being " more advanced " that's all, and am still none the wiser.
Not to worry, it should be a cracking game anyway.

Are we starting to clutch at straws. Feeling the pressure. It will be a long trip home with nothing to show for a 10hr round trip.

And if my auntie had balls etc. etc. Forget about the fact that we missed loads of chances ourselves and should have been clear only for the wides.

The point about McManus is also pretty funny. If he had scored 10 of our 15 pts then the tired old "one man team" line would be trotted out. But when he has one of his quieter days and we still win with other lads stepping up, then that's an excuse to bash him aswell! Can't win I suppose.

Those posters calling Kerry over hyped and living on past glories are loosing the run of themselves.
Kerry fans know where this team is at, we have a team of kids 19/20/21 learning senior football.
The hype didn't come from Kerry it came from others like Brolly looking to much into two games.
This is a 2/3 year project and if we go out on Sunday all is not lost.
I know many will rejoice at that prospect but that says more about them and their own counties.
Kerry fans need to look at the bigger picture and our boys will do their best on Sunday and thats all anyone can ask.

Foley
White
Barry
Burns
Clifford
O Se

And all the other young Kerry players are going to be superstars there's no doubt it's plain to see but for this one off game should Fitzmaurice bring back In the old guard for this do or die match? Obviously Clifford plays but the rest are they worth the gamble for this game ?

I take the general point, but it's not exactly true. Tomás Ó Sé said beforehand that he expected Kerry to win easily. Dara's article after the game was pretty scathing of them.
I expect a reaction from them this weekend, but you'd gave to think a loss would spell the end of Fitzmaurice's reign.

We are over hyped for sure but not by people within our county, Ciaran Whellan and joe brolly were the two biggest culprits and maybe tomás o'sé a bit too.

to be fair we all knew and said that this is a very young and inexperienced team, and you only had to look at our league results to see where we are.

We want to believe that we can beat Monaghan but we haven't seen anything from our young team or from our management that can give us that belief.

No clon, if anything I'd recommend starting more young lads, throw in Shanahan and Gavin Crowley and Barry O'Sullivan and Tom O'sullivan also from the start, this is a learning opportunity for these young lads now, we don't play challenge matches anymore so it would be a nice change for these young lads to play against different opponents.

Ah now KingdomBoy, your biggest problem is gettting your lads to believe that they could lose to Monaghan, not that you could beat them.
The opposite is true for us!

You do realise that it is quite possible for people to "worry" about their own county and at the same time look at other teams and matches and give an opinion based on what they have seen, don't you? Or is the only intercounty football you watch involving Kerry and nothing else?

I don't know Eddie, I hope you're right. I'm traveling more in hope than expectation at this point.

The only thing that gives me that bit of hope is that this'll be Monaghan's 5th game in 5 weeks and maybe ye'l get tired in the last 15/20 minutes, so if we can keep it close till then we might pip ye to the posts.

I assume this is firmly tongue in cheek Eddie.
It couldn't be further from the truth
