Looking forward to a great game. Can't wait actually, nerves are kicking in. However I think we will just shade a close tough encounter.

as a huge meath fan, would it be crazy to suggest that i actually wouldnt be overly disapointed to lose this game on sunday to longford. then we avoid playing dublin the next day. anyone else thinking this way? we avoid having to waste time and money going to croke park to watch meath getting hammered plus it will be on live tv, i haave never experienced this feeling before where i am genuinely not bothered if we lose maybe slight relived

Have heard the same craic bandied about here. But seriously, can either side think like that...

this would be a great scalp for us, so go out a beat a traditional big gun and worry about Dublin after. There's lots of football that could be played after the dubs anyway.....look at carlow last year...so a win against meath is a great win in itself.

From meaths point of view, go out and try to win the game on Sunday. The carrot is a chance to spring a surprise on their fiercest rivals, in the next round and upset the apple cart??!...dubs would have little respect for meath at the moment so theyre ripe for a shock???

If we think like this in leinster, the dubs will not only influence games they're playing g in, but also influence games they're not in.......in my humble opinion??!!!!!!

Dont get the huge Meath fan and happy with a loss. Hopefully we can get a win and move on to Dublin or Wicklow, never happy to see Meath beaten.

It's not a crazy suggestion, I'd imagine you're not alone in thinking that but I have to admit I don't share your view at all, I'm never happy or relieved by a loss, I always consider it a negative. However I have to admit I've gone a bit mellow in my auld age, I love it when we win, but I don't usually get overly bothered by defeat (collapse defeats are the exception, they generally annoy me), anyway ultimately it's not life or death.

As for the game itself, I want us to beat Longford, I think we have a good chance of winning but look they'll feel the same way and rightly so. If we do beat them and it's the Dubs then so be it, we'll worry about that later, there's plenty of work to be done first.

going to these meath -dublin games in croke park the last few years is the closest thing i can think of to going to lough derg for a pilgrimage, you feel you have to go out of faith, but you dont look forward to it, you dont enjoy it , you just endure it, make the best of it and try to forget all about it as quickly as possible

I think its a bit crazy alright to be honest. Can see where you are coming from though. But its never a good day when we get bet. As a huge Meath fan myself one of our goals should be to be playing the bigger teams especially Dublin and early on in champo. We owe it to ourselves to go out there and give the Dubs a good game. We are going to beat Longford and i can see us putting it up to Dublin when we do meet them not saying we will win them, we have a long way to go before we can do that but meeting the Dubs in Croker will actually be good for Meath. If we give them a good game and the lads play out of their skins like they are capable of and we lose i will be happy with that. But if we go out there and get hammered and just dont play now that is a different story, but cant see that happening.

Think Longford have a good chance here and could shade it by 3 to 4 points.

The morning of championship beginning has arrived. I still absolutely love it.
To my longford friends, I wish you the best , obviously I hope and pray we beat you, but I also hope you have a long summe through the back door. I have friends/relations in ardagh and ballinalee , and while not many experienced dancing in the dark in navan in Jan there were a couple from longford besides me and it created a bond I think between both counties, the result was probably insignificant at the end, the history was made.
To my beloved royals. Andy Brian and the rest of the team, it's time, it's time to show what we have seen in glimpses, to show it for 70 minuets plus. Best wishes to all.

To see one of the minnows have their day in the sun and give a little joy to the long suffering fans but I just can't see it I'm afraid.

Longford by 2."
It went exactly the way it was expected to.

Congratulations to Longford. Well deserved. Great GAA people in longford. The men of 68 would be proud of that win. You can be very proud of your county well. Best of luck in the rest of championship. Congrats.
