Have to say Mayo. Think home advantage will do it for Donegal aidan64 (Kerry) - Posts: 664 - 23/03/2018 21:23:58 2087313 Link 1 |

Mayo have been in Division One since 1998. No county in Ireland has spend longer in the top flight than the men from the west. Since 2005 these two sides have played each other ten times in the league with Mayo winning three times, there were two draws and Donegal winning five times which included a historic first and only Division One title when they beat Mayo in the final in 2007. Donegal has won one home match out of two this year in the league while Mayo has won two out three matches away from home. Mayo are the lowest scorers in Division One while Donegal after Kildare has conceded the most. It will be a tight match and it would not surprise me if it ended in a draw. I will go with a narrow Mayo win to keep their long and proud tradition in Division One. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 23/03/2018 22:57:20 2087334 Link 1 |
Donegal have to be favourites Mayo have too many injured and too many half fit. No question Mayo are in trouble to be even ready for May 13th let alone Sunday centerfield (Mayo) - Posts: 360 - 23/03/2018 23:18:23 2087340 Link 0 |
Fancy Donegal myself for this one, would be a very good win for Mayo if they can pull it off, but I'd be surprised. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8571 - 24/03/2018 01:19:42 2087345 Link 2 |
It will be tight and tense. Wouldn't rule out a draw. Il go for Mayo to stay up, just. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2087 - 24/03/2018 07:58:09 2087357 Link 0 |
Likely Mayo's final sting with this team will be against us on May 13th even if we are nicely and slowly evolving. I think they will take that over tomorrow so Donegal might have the greater bite. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1941 - 24/03/2018 08:32:31 2087362 Link 0 |
I actually fancy Mayo to be honest. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 24/03/2018 10:43:43 2087377 Link 0 |
Having seen both teams in the flesh I'd have to go for a Donegal win by 5 points. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 24/03/2018 11:12:18 2087383 Link 1 |
I don't think many see one year in Division 2 as being the end of the world - more that it would be a tricky enough division to get out of. It's not a given that whoever goes down will come straight back up.

Would like to see donegal win it..for the simple reason that they mixed it up a bit this year and went a bit more attacking which i love to see..i wouldnt want to see them relegated and then reverting back to the uber defence of previous years for the championship, win or lose i hope they stick with trying trying to play a bit of ball..regarding mayo there not arsed with the league so i'd be happy to see them relegated. Hard one to call, but home advantage might swing it narrowly towards Donegal. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 24/03/2018 12:02:21 2087393 Link 1 |
That's very true TheHermit. Since the restructures of the league's ten years ago there are only two teams that have been relegated from Division One and get promoted back the following the year from Division Two. Donegal were the first team to do this in 2014 and Tyrone also did this in 2016.

Will be at least three tomorrow evening maybe 4 if both Roscommon and Cavan go straight back up. Fancy Mayo tomorrow, McBrearty a massive loss for Donegal and Mayo are always at their best when written off hope I am wrong though Cuckoosinging (Roscommon) - Posts: 992 - 24/03/2018 13:34:09 2087413 Link 0 |
Very hard game to call. Mayo to stay up for me but it'll be no surprise if Donegal can get the win in Ballybofey. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13694 - 24/03/2018 13:39:06 2087414 Link 1 |
