Joe is a great player. Ben O Connor was a great player too. I have been lucky to see them both play. Enjoy watching Joe play. Such talents are rare. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 17/12/2017 15:34:36 2065425 Link 2 |
I know the Cannings. Our families hail from the same mighty metropolis of Gortanumera. Admittedly I'd know the older lads and the dad more so than Joe but what you witnessed on the Late Late is representative of the Cannings as a family. Decent and wonderful people who's regard and consideration for others often outweighs their own personal challenges. Maroonatic (Galway) - Posts: 1060 - 18/12/2017 09:47:29 2065491 Link 3 |

Insane comment. If Joe Canning was born in Kilkenny people would liken him to Christy Ring, Eddie Keher, Mick Mackey et al as one of the all time greats - he is the player of his generation, spectacular hurler in every sense.

Your a bit unfair and unkind with these comments, Joe is gentleman and I can tell one they give out college scholarship for just about anything now and if anyone deserves one surely Joe Canning does?

I've always admired Joe Canning as a player and as a man. It's such a pity that some people think that great players have to be denigrated to laud the players of their choice. Different players, different times, different styles, different circumstances. It was such a pleasure to watch them all play. They come from all counties at all times. Great interview from a great player. Galway and Portumna are lucky to have him. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2100 - 28/12/2017 10:03:12 2066065 Link 0 |
Joe Canning is everything you'd want your children to be. A perfect role model and exceptional hurler. I won't compare him to the other players as they were unique and exceptionally talented in their own unique way..but as Galwayman I wouldn't swap Joe Canning for the pick of the bunch.
