God with the breath of counties being mentioned it seems rural football is in rude health.

Our current squad is limited and nowhere near the talent and skill we had on the 00's. Despite all that they are the best to come out of rural Ireland during the regular league season.

Interesting to see in the latest census that Mayo and Donegal are the only two counties with falling populations. Two counties who hold their own when it comes to GAA.

Despite our crowd picking up the league title, there's little to suggest the state of inter-county football in rural Ireland has improved much.

The top 4 in Division 2 were Galway, Kildare, Cork and Meath. 4 counties a lot would have been expected from after Tyrone and Kerry came down a few notches after the 00's.

There are signs Tyrone and Kerry might turn a corner. Our own crowd aren't scheduled to come out of transition until at least 5 years after the 2014 Minor All-Ireland winning team.

We're doing alright in Donegal although do we count as rural? Many a metropolis in these here hills.
