Replying To mhunicean_abu:  "The player concerned was Barry Mc Ginn, arguably our best player from last years Ulster title winning side. He is a big miss for the 21s and indeed the senior team. Word is he insisted on playing himself, sometimes players need to be protected from themselves if they are involved with numerous teams. The buck does stop with management though. What about the 5 Donegal lads inured for them? you would wonder what the F*** is going on sometimes.
Thought Donegal had a great chance this year, until I read that as they have Tyrone in the first round. Kerry must have a great chance to win it out"
Some very good players out most notably Kieran Gillespie and Jason McGee who are now established senior players. Though on another post on another thread Donegal were able to bring Lorcan Connor, Andrew McClean and Niall O'Donnell off the bench in a recent challenge match so despite the injuries Donegal have a very strong squad. The draw in Omagh worries me more than injuries.

Replying To kiloughter:  "Absolutely. The Connacht U21 final 2 yrs ago in Tuam Stadium front of 6,000 people was a joy to watch. Although we lost to the Rossies that evening the football was a throw back to the great and the good of the game. We were the reigning all ireland champions so the knock out 'on the line' football really added to the occasion."
I'd wager it was far better than the misty-eyed nostalgic throwback game you have in your head.

Replying To EDH:  "A game that Galway should have won but for the poor selection of the team, imagine the manager dropped Barry Mc Hugh from the panel even though he had been top scorer in Sigerson football that year, selected Colin Brady ahead of Martin Farragher from Corofin even though Brady wasn't making the Corofin senior panel and Farragher was starting every game in the All Ireland win, a missed opportunity for sure to go back to back."
Not so sure about your assertion there. Mchugh was top scorer true, but the bulk of those scores in Sigerson were from the placed ball. Secondly, Farragher came on early in that game against Roscommon and didnt exactly set the world alight. Roscommon won because they were better on the day. The missed opportunity if any was when Roscommon were caught by an average Tyrone team in the semi final, who then went on to win the final itself.

Top scorer is top scorer, he was also playing for Carlow IT, not DCU or UCD and was effectively playing on his own up front, he is doing a fine job kicking frees for the Galway senior team at present and the U21's needed him badly that night with only one score from a free through Damien Comer, whilst Murtagh kicked six or seven for Roscommon (the difference) as for Farragher he should have started, Colin Brady still hasn't broken into the Corofin starting team only making the odd appearance here and there, granted he has serious potential and I hope he shoot the lights out in Tuam tomorrow.

I agree....it does not matter how you get scores. A good freetaker is vital to a team. We see the same nose turning when people mention Cillian O Connor.

Cavan beat fermanagh well tonight.

Think it finished 2-19 to 0-04

half time in extra time and Donegal v Tyrone is still level at 13 a piece. Shocking wide count from Donegal in normal time

Kerry in cruise control all game tonight, finished 1-18 to 0-7.

Limerick were giving Cork a load of trouble and were still leading into the second half, but Cork got two goals to put a gloss on it, 2-10 to 0-10.

So as expected its a Kerry/Cork final in two weeks.

Still hard to judge where Kerry are at, not hugely impressive against Clare and swept Waterford aside with little fuss.

Cork will be an entirely different animal.

I think Donegal kicked about 17 wides in normal time. Tyrone had one, possibly two in the same period. Lots to work on for the replay

Draw was the fair result, typical Tyrone vs Dinegal game. Donegal kicked plenty of wides in the first half. Tyrone could of won it at the end if they fisted the ball over the bar instead of going for goal.
Poor sportsmanship by Donegal at the end but apart from that it was played hard but fair.

I was at the game in omagh this evening. It was a mighty struggle and both teams had great chances to win. Tyrone more so, they had a gilt edged chance at the death of normal time. Instead of tapping over a point with no time left on the clock a goal was spurned.

I think that both teams will not relish the game next week, as extra time already has taken its toll on the players mentally and physically. I feel that whoever wins this one will have to regroup in an extra ordinary way to push on in ulster and beyond if that is the case. Well done lads on a great and sporting game. I hope the game next week is as exciting. Thankfully there are some tight games left on the roster.

Not surprised in 2014/2015 the wide count was ridiculous even though both minor sides were capable of putting up cricket like scores esp the 2014 vintage. Happy to get a draw after all despite the fixture log jam.
