Yep it's an interesting competition. It'd be great if the league were played later and was used instead of the qualifiers to get the AI semifinalists.

Antrim really need to be operating in 1B.

In the past Kilkenny would bully them. They tried today at the start again but Waterford stood up to them as gave as got as the got. Hogan was the first incident and was lucky not to be sent off.

Great start to the season by cork. It's looking like Clare vs Dublin in the relegation match with Clare prevailing. Tony Kelly is on fire.

Hard to read into the Tipp vs Dublin match with Dublin fielding such a young side.

Kilkenny are still so hard to beat, they are very clinical. Waterford create a lot but need more composure up front.

Galway vs Wexford will be a great match.

Fair play to Kerry for coming back with the goals.

Offaly are really struggling, which is sad to see.

Hard to know where Limerick are at. Laois have lost too many players over the last two years.

Fair play to Waterford. Stood up to KK which at times was not pretty. I dont think Waterford care at this stage whether beating KK is ugly. Waterford are serious contenders this year. They should be well capable of taking Tipp next weekend.

Serious contenders after 70 minutes of hurling in Febrary ? Really ?

Hon the mighty hurling Kingdom. With a little luck we'll be safe now for another year in 1B!

heard mullane on radio 1 today saying he was a fan of the current league structure but felt its tough on the 1b teams that only 1 gets promoted.

suggested that 1 goes up automatically and 6th in 1a is relegated while 5th in 1a and 2nd in 1b could have a playoff

how would people feel about this?

Dublin getting relegated. Can't see any other outcome. I know the Cuala lads are to come back but I just cannot see where or how we will get the win to keep us up. A short summer again is on the cards with Galway first up.

Cunningham gone and a season of rebuilding, getting confidence back in 1b, next year might not be the worst situation going forward.

2017 is already a complete write off imo.

Great that the season has started already. Unfortunately, didn't get to see much more than the highlights. Had the nice little double of Waterford/Wexford come in at good odds. Just a pity I didn't show faith in the 4 other predictions.
I'd have a nice little profit this morning.
Main talking point from the weekend is probably Dublin's performance. 1A is a tough place and the pressure will mount now. A big ask on so many young/new players. Most games played out as I tried to predict...apart from Tipp's winning margin. Haven't seen much of Cork obviously yet but by all accounts they seem to be in a far better position and I'd expect them to go all out to win the league. From the small bit I seen of the KK match I was surprised how much some of their players have bulked up over the window....far too much in some cases.

Would agree with you there as you say even with the Cuala lot we just don't have the strenght in depth.

Well when this division by beating Clare the rules were changed after the competition ended (probably because 'Limerick won a match')

Sure he could just as easily get injured training for Ballyea as playing for Clare.

Brian Cody doesn't mind his county players playing club games two weeks before championship games. No need to wrap Tony Kelly up in cotton wool just yet.I'd imagine he'll get a couple weeks off before St Patricks Day's big game."
I know he could get injured in training just as easily but just say, God forbid, he had broken his leg against Cork the other night. If I was a member of Ballyea management team, or a player or a supporter even, I would be absolutely livid with him and the Clare management. Theres a fair chance that Ballyea will never get to an All Ireland again.
Presuming Ballyea trained over the weekend, he should have been with them. The difference of having guys like Kelly and Jack Browne training with club makes training 10 times better for everybody.
He'll probably have 3 Fitzgibbon matches to play before the All Ireland too so there was no need for him to be playing Saturday night.
