I don't think anyone was expecting Waterford to be "trounced" i don't know what gave you that idea as we were missing our two best forwards in Banville and Shanley. Was a tough day to play football in but how we only got one goal i cant understand we missed 4 one on ones and 2 more great chances for goals. We really need to start taking our chances.
Wicklow next for us and i hate playing them and Carlow never have good memories of it in the league.

Didn't see anything about how Leitrim played against Westmeath; all I know is we got a good beating. Absolutely have to beat Carlow now or else we can only get a maximum of 8 points even if we win all remaining games.

Leitrims goose is cooked now. In fact the whole lot is burnt to a crisp. They're too young yet to make an assault on the summit of Div 4. They're attempting Everest with a walking stick and a hoodie and some Dr. Dre headphones when you need a lock of sherpa's, pronged boots, a hape of ropes and a good warm jacket.

And an attitude like the Japanese. Them is horrid fierce for climbing Everest and never giving up!!! Yasuko Namba climbed all Seven Summits, finishing on Everest in 1996, where she died in a blizzard.

Replying To juniorjudge: "small playing pool? well i think that contradicts your poor effort at insulting waterford county football...and another limerick poster has already said limerick are "training their nuts off". no need for the sarcasm." You got me all wrong juniorjudge I wasn't having a go at all at Waterford, it was actually directed towards Limerick, but that the same could happen to Waterford.
You were asking what happened to Limerick - what happened was we got got good for a while and as the hurlers saw it , started taking their resources and potential hurlers because like Waterford we are supposedly a hurling county and so they neglected underage football for years in Limerick.

I remember seeing Alex ferguson in an interview before Manchester United played Sunderland in a game towards the end of the season. Manchester United had the premier league crown already wrapped up and we welcoming strugglers Sunderland who were a point inside the relegation zone to old Trafford. A journalist put it to Ferguson that united, with the title secured may go easy on Sunderland. His players already had Champs league football secured and premier league title in the bag and surely were looking forward to the end season with a holiday coming up.
Ferguson replied " Why would we take it easy on Sunderland now just because we have the premier league title won? West Brom, Newcastle, Swansea, Burnley and Hull are all fighting for survival now too, if I put out a weakend side against Sunderland this weekend how is that fair on the other clubs fighting to stay up when we went full out to beat them here when we were chasing the title earlier in the season. If my players don't try full out to beat Sunderland like they did every other team they will be disciplined. The league should be about every team playing their best week in and week out and at the end of the season the best team wins and the worst ones go down. If we play half hearted or a weakened side against Sunderland we don't support this ideal and I as a manager do not support it either. "
Wexford went against this ideal this weekend , I believe Carlow had an outside chance ( a very outside chance ) of getting promoted and Wexford fielding a weekend team or not wanting to show their hand before a final cost Carlow badly. Even though it was an outside chance it was a chance and Carlow would have gone in to next weekend still in the mix, had a chance. I wonder when Wexford meet Westmeath in the league final will the score be as big in Westmeath favour?? Is that the league leaders in div 4 playing everygame and treating every team the same throughout the league?
Say what you want about Ferguson , I hated him and united but in fairness he talked a lot of sense!

I agree with the tone of your post but you are assuming that Westmeath would not have got at least a draw against a full Wexford team as regards Carlow being in the mix next week. Still agree with your overall point.

It raises a few questions in my mind and makes a joke out of the fixture. In my opinion who ever finishes a league on top should be the winner whcih would do away with this sort of messing. The thought of sharing Croke Park with a few thousand supporters and the seagulls does nothing for me. If it was played at a small neutral venue it might generate more atmosphere.

yea, divisional finals are a joke. it's a league. The team who finish top should get the trophy and that includes division 1. It was worse years ago when believe it or not the winners of every division had a chance to win "The League". Sometimes The GAA baffles me.
