It is comical but refreshing seeing good natured banter between neighbours and rivals. Made me laugh.

Congrats on your promotion Ollie. Even though you want more Leinster teams in Div 1 next season i hope we don't have to meet ye next season if you know what i mean. Too long in this division but very realistic with our ambitions.

Even taking promotion out of it, the extra game a league final would give Galway would be important because they are not out in Championship for a good while. First game probably is against Mayo so any extra prep is welcome. Kildare will be no pushovers, but hopefully we can do what is required. The amount of posts warbling on about Kildare not being motivated to do Meath a favour are an insult to Clare. Barring a few posts there is not a mention that Meath still have a game to play. Astounding considering the rattle Clare gave our lads on Sunday. commander (Kildare) - Posts: 225 - 28/03/2017 15:08:01 1972289 Link 1 |
With then minutes to go Meath were a point up, after scoring 1-7 in a row, with a gale force wind behind them and Cork in shock...Meath threw the game away with poor decision making and ridiculous cocky shooting.

Well said Meath still have a game to win for the Galway Kildare result to mean anything to them.

Ah I would not begrudge the Tribesmen going up. Galway just fell short last year on the last day of going up to Division One. The last time Galway were in Division One was in 2011. Meath have not been in the top division since 2006. Funny enough Louth have a good record against Galway in the league recently meeting three times in a row between 2012 and 2014 and Louth won once and the other matches ended in draws. Yes I am delighted Louth have been promoted. At the start they were the bookies favs along with Antrim to be relegated. I did not think that they would get promoted. I would of been happy with avoiding relegation.

agreed.. the combination of a must win in clare(which will be difficult to say the least) and kildare winning a nothing game(for them) in galway is highly unlikely. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 28/03/2017 15:39:10 1972317 Link 0 |
Agree with this. While all the pressure is on us in Salthill Ennis will be no picnic for the improving Royals. Clare have a very potent full forward line and in Gary Brennan a midfielder who can dominate games.

All we should be thinking about is Clare, they've held their own in division 2 this year and will be tough to beat at home, if we get the win then we can look to see how Kildare get on against Galway. Could make for an interesting day at the top of the table but Galway will be heavy favourites to go up with Kildare and rightfully so. Meath on a good roll and starting to find some shape and form, so could go your way. Kildare wouldn't roll over but I don't expect management to risk key players too much. Although it would be nice to turn Galway over on their own patch

if we beat clare i will be a happy man, regardless of what happens in salthill.

Agree with Ziggy, if we beat Clare and finish third its a fair reflection of where we are at. But expect one of our hardest games to date against Clare, will be very little in it. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2128 - 28/03/2017 19:24:42 1972475 Link 0 |
Not sure if Kildare will put out a full team on Sunday but Galway will be missing a few themselves anyway. Damien Comer probably Galway's best player has missed most of the league with injury and Micheal Daly who has probably been Galway's best forward during the league, has a Connacht U-21 final against Sligo on Saturday evening so is very unlikely to start the KIldare game. May be on the bench alright. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2197 - 28/03/2017 20:34:37 1972520 Link 0 |
yeah we must play with the same intensity as we did fermanagh, otherwise the banner will win without a doubt.

Cian O'Neill has stated that he will be trying out a few guys but will be going for the win. With a panel of 32 that could mean quite a few changes. Some guys have started all of the games so I suspect they'll be rested.

In the top 3 divisions this weekend only 3 teams have nothing to play for. If there was 4 up 4 down there would be 8 teams with nothing to play for. We saw last week with Wexford how a team with nothing to play for can really distort a competition. The league is really enjoyable for what it is but championship is the true test of a team.

Totally threw the game away. 1 point up gale force wind at back, cork were in total disaray and we blew it by hitting unreal shots at posts, coming back off upright hitting shot from every angle while simple pass would have set up certain point. Blew it big time. Did you not read McEntee interviews after? Jesus he was livid.
