The reason Ireland won't be hosting the 2023 world cup has nothing to do with stadium facilities, its all about money. The reason the Fijians or Romanians didn't vote for Ireland was not because the toilet facilities in Nowlan Park are poor, they are unlikely to ever have heard of Kilkenny never mind Nowlan Park. The facilities in most GAA grounds are basic but if the choice is between removing posts that block views in Nowlan Park or developing a new 4G pitch for kids to play on I know which I'd prefer. Can't blame these unions for putting finance first either - Samoan rugby is bankrupt and are playing England next week in Twickenham. England will make about £3 million from the game, they are giving Samoa £75k. That is professional sport summed up.

I'd agree with that. Our stadiums aren't up to the job. Croke Park and Pairc ui Chaoimh are great. Top class. And terracing is the way to go now these days again after a hiatus. It's the second tier that are poor. Gaelic Grounds and Thurles and then the third tier is every one else and of a very basic standard.
Club facilities are quiet good. Rugby clubs here in Limerick have very good club facilities but many if them are older than the GAA clubs and have establ8shed bars ect. N.a. Piarsaigh hurling club is only 1968. It's facilities are ok. I applaud the Northern Irish clubs but it's not all about facilities either. The gaa have been pushing too many stadiums for too long.

Can't understand why Naas or Newbridge aren't being considered fine state of the art stadiums
