Anthony Rainbow first played for Kildare in the league in the Autumn of 1990. He retired from inter-county football in 2010.

Replying To CastleBravo:  "I don't think Tony Browne actually played in 2014, he played none of the league, then announced his retirement in April. It's a bit dodgy to include it in his inter county career."
yes i do think your correct on that...nonetheless he was available for 2014, trained and went to matches...i wouldnt consider that a dodgy inclusion tbh.

Our own Stephen Melia and Seamus O'Hanlon from Louth would be well up that list.
Stephen, who unfortunately passed away last year, played county football for 18 seasons from 1984 to 2001 while Seamus played for 19 seasons from 1985 to 2003.

Yeah correct. Sorry I was taking about football, as the thread started regarding Dick Clerkin's retirement.

Christy Ring 1939 to 1963

He was also named as a sub on the cork team for the 1966 Munster final age 45 when he was still flying in Cork club hurling. He didn't show in the end though so 1963 would be his final game in the red jersey

Out of curiosity, why do some Tyrone people insist on spelling his name with a K?

Always wondered that myself - it's not as though he's an unknown player or anything. When he does hang up his boots and the dust settles, everyone will finally realise he's the best player Tyrone ever produced, BAR NONE!
