Kilkenny in hurling. Given all the misery they have inflicted on us over so many years, the 3 wins and a draw in our last 4 championship meetings were hugely satisfying. Although we have a good championship record against Cork since 1975, we have still never beaten them in a final - would love to see that put right. (The 1986 and 1990 finals were particularly hard to take). I spent 40 years dreaming of beating Kerry in football, yet when it finally happened in 2018 it was a complete anti-climax - probably because it was the first round of the super-8s and not a straight knock-out game. Dublin. The reasons are not tribal in my case. Put simply, any Meath team good enough to beat Dublin in the championship is good enough to beat anyone else. Beating Dublin in Leinster was always the springboard for Meath to go on and win or challenge for Sam, at least since the 1960s and 70s anyway. Depends really. In hurling it was Laois for a long time, then it was Wexford and then Kilkenny. Back to Laois now. Obviously any of the big 3 but I've only ever seen that the once in Championship. In football it was Meath for me growing up as it was during the Boylan era but it hasn't really been Meath since the mid 00s. Kerry are always enjoyable to beat seeing as they're the number one football County and we had years of plámás from them when we couldn't win. Nice to win a game where either the backdoor or another group game can get you out of jail, but there's nothing like the knock-out stages. Apart from this year, when we'll have an old fashioned championship, I wouldn't necessarily want to go back to straight knockout and a return to very few games. But taking out a rival where there's no fall back is just that bit more satisfying and gut-wrenching when it happens in reverse. The real highs and lows of sport! For me it has nt changed since i was a young boy.I always loved beating Cork and Dublin and still do.However when Kerry are out of championship i like to see my neighbours Cork do well and always find Dubs exciting to watch.In the noughties obviously did nt like losing to Tyrone but that was cos we just were nt able to beat them CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3668 - 01/07/2020 21:25:47 2282604 Link

Always Tyrone for me. Any of the other counties that beat or lose to us fans offer congratulation/commiserations after the match. Unfortunately we are losing. one of our.stars because he is a doctor. They'll have no problem with social distancing down in that big swanky centre of excellence down in Currans. Jesus, it must be lovely to have all that money flowing in from the GLOBAL LEADER in the food industry!!!! Plus of course all the cash yet get from the US. I would say Meath and the Dubs but wee have not beaten both of them in the Championship since the 1970's. The Dubs in 1973 and Meath in 1975. Funny enough Louth have a good record against Kildare. Dublin are a fine team and would have won plenty this decade. But would they have dominated to the extent no other team ever has, winning a 5 in a row, without the massive funding, sponsership etc thats been pumped into them- no they wouldn't. And I think that's a very reasonable point to make. Even Michael Duignan, a Co Chairman, was coming outmaking the point on the radio this week. And this stage I'm actually concerned people like yourself (ie those not having aDublin jersey stuck to them) are still trying to argue anything else given all the evidence. But then again there's people that think climate change is a cod and Covid is caused by mobile phones....
