Yah , it was a good show alright and brought back a few good moments that I'd forgotten.
Cody getting edgy with Marty after 2009 final was gas and Pat simmering like an all pot before boiling over about Tyrone and their puke football.
Am I right in thinking Cody got the man of the match award that night on the Sunday game which seemed daft to me at the time.

Cody was given MOTM the previous year when they destroyed Waterford.

In 2009 I think PJ Ryan was MOTM if memory serves.

As far as I recall Cody got man of the match the year they hammered Waterford.

Ah right so. 2008 it was. Still daft though imo.

The MOTM award in 2008 was awarded to the entire team.

My personal favourite was Pat's rebuttal to Brolly

" You remind me of that Ronan Keating song. You say it best when you say nothing at all"

Followed by the sound of laughter from a member of the backroom team

Finally got around to watching it last night on the RTE Player. How did they not cover the Meath vs Louth game from 2010 and the Clare vs Offaly game from 1998. Two of the best scandals within the GAA and both covered by The Sunday Game. Really think that was poor production on RTE behalf.
The only reason I can not think for covering them is they have already been so publicized.

I'd hazard a guess that they weren't covered on this programme because it was a programme about The Sunday Game, not a programme about incidents that were covered by The Sunday Game. There's a difference between the two.

Don't think The Sunday Game coverage of either incident was any way as memorable as things like "puke football", Brolly's rant about Sean Kavanagh, the Marty Morrissey/Brian Cody interview, etc. I certainly remember nothing in particular about the coverage anyway.

Thought it was quite a good programme myself.

Spillane and O Rourke were starting fires all over the place in the 90s with those glimmers !!

Didnt think it was great myself but then not much happens on the sunday game outside of game analysis. So characters like Brolly and Spillane are part of theprogram. Incidents like the clare-offaly 98 saga happened in the live match and rte news but not on the sunday game program. TG4 have covered this incident and others with dedicated programs.
