How about a charity match between all Ireland football champions and all Ireland hurling champions. First half one code second half other code. Cup for winners to boast outright all Ireland gaa champions

That would be very interesting and entertaining to be fair...imagine Dublin v tipp football first half and hurling second half..I'd imagine Dublin could be 8 points up at half time and then the second half we'd get to see the likes of Costello and con o Callaghan against the hurling kingpins.would they be able to overhaul the deficit?

A perpetual trophy for the hurling champions it would be. They would win it year after year.

Revive the Railway Cup. It took a back seat to club championships but those are being back now.

Proposed under 20 football matchs won't attract a whole pile . Club finals attracted 25-40,000 over the past 2 decades .
Maybe the GAA want to have some concerts instead??

I don't see any kind of special match like charity or railway cup working. Ide much rather see a full round of league games as both codes are at important points in the league by then and you could do double headers where possible and promote it as some sort of family day and do cheap tickets for everyone or free in for kids or something

I would actually love to see that game. Allow max 5 subs at half time.

Dublin would win the first and Tipp the second obviously but We know the Dubs have some tasty hurlers among their football team.

Even though that obviously won't happen because of potential injuries, it would be interesting. Particularly to see if Cluxton would continuously try short puck outs and if he would be as bad as the PS2 hurling goalies when trying to make saves!

That's fine for Dublin and Tipp who have a good mix of hurlers and footballers. For example, Dublin have Kilkenny, Connolly, O'Callaghan, Costello, Lowndes, ROC etc. who all represented Dublin in hurling. It'd be a non-event if a county with a modest hurling record (e.g. Tyrone, Mayo etc.) won Sam or if Kilkenny, Waterford etc. won the hurling.

On the grounds that football is just a game for bad hurlers, I agree 100%.

Oh not going there! But hurling is a game where skills can go rusty very quickly if it's not a player's main sport. So even in the case of Dublin footballers who are also very good hurlers, because they are only hurling part time or only occasionally, their timing /ability to read the flight of the sliotar/catch a dropping ball etc etc would be significantly behind the standard of the Tipp/KK/ Limerick hurling teams, and they would get beaten -- probably quite heavily. There would be exceptions of course....the likes of Con O'Callaghan would be most likely to make the switch seamlessly, but then he does play a lot of hurling still anyway.

How about a Donkey Derby with each county represented by a 'home grown' donkey (parish rule applies) complete with bookmakers and barbecue on the pitch. Could also have a few sideshows like a sack race, egg and spoon race and the old reliable 3 legged race. And a competition to guess the weight of the Limousine Bull....!!!!!

It would be comical if nothing else. Good cause too.
