National League 2019

(Oldest Posts First)

Right, it's time to turn our attention to 2019. With many of our senior players taking a break, it's time to see who are the new leaders in this squad. Let be honest, we are in a bad place. No underage coming through. No signs that we are remotely close to competing with Tyrone and Donegal. After watching that club championship, instead of filling me with confidence, it did the very opposite.

For the year ahead, I think we need to focus on the players and not the management. Them boys in blue need to lead from the front. Manager after manager has been ostracized as not being good enough. The management don't play. The players do. After them 2 trashings last Summer, the spotlight should shine brightly on the pitch.

Are there any new recruits to the panel? I hope Micky approaches it with an attitude of getting more bulk into the squad.
We need to get a more defined balance between attack and defence. Simply, go replicate that Tyrone model and that will go a long way to bridging the chasm.

Also, I would like to know what preparations are being put in place with the Cavan U20 for next year. It's simply not good enough to have this team competing with their Ulster counterparts on a wing and a prayer.

Much has been made of the Polo Grounds project, rightly so. But the County Board needs to be conscious that solidt structures are needed to be in place to facilitate this.

Don't you mean 2020? Great points though.

I guess this is meant to be a thread to discuss the 2020 NFL. Division 2 is looking like the most interesting and competitive of all 4 divisions with the introduction or return of the Tommy Murphy. So even relegation candidates will be fighting tooth and nail to avoid that competition. Possible promotion candidates are ourselves, Kildare, Cavan and Armagh and any team with 4 home games has advantage straight away (not us unfortunately)

Div 3 will be interesting also with Cork, Down, Derry and Tipp battling it out for those two promotion spots and avoid that 2nd tier championship.

Sligo for their own sake need to get out Div 4 ASAP.

Div 1 might be an opportunity for another new winner as Dublin put their main focus on 6 in a row All Irelands.

Is there anywhere where full fixtures are listed or are they still all with counties?
