Another Own Goal By The GAA

Why aren't Joe McDonagh Cup players being recognised at the All Stars this evening? There were four Champion 15 teams each for the McDonagh, Ring, Rackard and Meagher Cup competitions one time. This year they have rolled them into one Champion 15 and forgot about Joe McDonagh Cup players?? Paddy Purcell was named Joe McDonagh Player of the Year but what about the other Laois lads and Westmeath's Killian Doyle who scored 3-61 during in the championship? What a joke.

Teams outside the top tier don't count. There are excellent players, outside the teams competing the provincial championships, like those you mentioned. Enda Rowland of Laois has been a consistently good goalkeeper with Laois, as good as any inter county Number 1.
It will be the same in football, once the ill starred Tier 2 championship starts.

The truth is the GAA only care about the Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy championships and everything after that is just a nuisance to them. The selectors probably picked the Champion 15 team on the back of a match box with zero knowledge of players so included the ones that went to the final photoshoots or the captains .

Because they couldn't give a rats you know what about counties outside the top tier, you would want to be unbelievably naive at this stage to not see what's going on.

The gaa is for the top counties and are rapidly trying to make sure everyone else is just out of the way.

The all stars awards have for a number of years been picked from teams in the last 4/8 of the All Ireland championship to the exclusion of all other teams regardless of how good an individual has been throughout the year. Even provisional winners aren't considered any more when all star awards are being handed out . All stars were viewed as individual award in the past but sadly, this is no longer the case.

You could be right because all the captains were picked!

Crappy counties is a bit disrespectful but I think there normally does be one or two players from the likes of Tipperary and Kilkenny . Lee Chin played last year and John McGrath before .

Crappy counties is very disrespectful. It gives counties who aren't the strongest in hurling or at least players recognition they otherwise wouldnt and by and large with these players games are quite competitive which might be case with all players from the Liam McCarthy counties.

Enda Rowland got nominated for a Liam Mccarthy All-Star. Anyone who plays in the Joe Mcdonagh can win an All-Star. Its amazing that it's disrespectful in football to have teams in a 2nd tier, but when players in the Joe Mcdonagh are included I the top tier of All-stars they too are being disrespected. Think it sums up the problem GAA administrators have quite well.

Let's be honest a lot of the times the counties outside the top tier don't give a rat's about their own hurling teams . Ditto for football teams in hurling counties

Disgraceful but no great surprise. Tier 2 football will go the same road. Too many sheep in the GAA now, no reasoning or questioning voices anymore at any level & especially in the GAA media who are afraid to ask the hard questions, instead they censor & cover up.

When we talk about the gaa in this context we have to name it as those operating from within crime park. .they are destroying our game, and are fully prepared to drive it into the ground and all for the sake of money and their own egos.
