Replying To bobby22:  "what a game of football between mochtas/brides and st pats. Spectators got their fair share of entertainment from that one, heart-throbbing stuff, home side stealing it with a last minute winner in dramatic style. All credit to the pats lads however, what an effort they put in to come just short, phenomenal stuff in such bad conditions and probably should have seen the game out. Nearly all the players collapsed on their knees after the final whistle, and what composure from Smyth to score the winner.

Hard to look past the mairtins for the other game, with the two senior lads and the minor winning team, they should win this one as the marys have been out of action for some time. Final is down for 5.30 on saturday in darver of all places, absolutely ridiculous venue for a championship final."
Agree darver at 5.30 our county board never cease to amaze us , I fancy Marys in the semi

I do agree with U 18 been left alone"
I understand NM asked for game to be moved from last Sunday to Friday night because some of NM players were not around.

I think it was the other way around the Mary's where missing a few on Sunday & gave up home advantage to play on Friday night.
Lads let's get your stories right before you start blaming clubs for postponing matches & getting fixtures changed when ye don't know the ins & outs of the real story.

Lucky for some 13 teams involving 19 clubs participated. Some very good games. Final is St.Marys v St.Moctas/ St. Brides in Darver on Saturday @5.30. Could go either way. If it's half as good as the Mocthas/ Brides v Pats semi- final it will be well worth a visit.
The Clans v Cooley Shield final is also in Darver @ 5.00.on Saturday. Probably on a second pitch.
Nothing like being there.

A few more than that
Maybe because it produces some of the best football played in Louth in any given year is why it should be retained
Experience of this competition in a couple of other counties (including Meath) is that it is a competition that is taken seriously and important to win
Last years minor finalists Ardee and Mochtas/Brides will contest the final Saturday and I am sure they will probably see it as a highlight of their club year should they win it.
Now there are all the arguments of when it is played /Fixed etc but you will find that most lads will want to play
Disappointing alright that county champions plus most of Dundalk /Roche didn't bother to field but that is more to do with not having a hope of winning it as opposed to anything else - I see lads lining out in these competitions in other counties and still playing in Leinster club championship so that is not an excuse
I think that too much blame is apportioned to external factors by club members across a lot of clubs in Louth (for not fielding teams etc) and it is little wonder that Louth football is where it is
Martins and a couple of others would seem to be the exception and maybe "struggling" clubs could learn from these

The lads with the medals will as will their supporters. But it's being there where the enjoyment is
