for me Mayos biggest issue against the Dubs is the goal concession rate centerfield (Mayo) - Posts: 360 - 07/08/2019 19:50:05 2222360 Link 0 |
Two of those goals were OGs in 16. So unlucky on that score. Dermo penalty in 15 also.

Every team that goes out to not concede goals v Dublin gets their arse handed to them. McGuiness got far to much credit for his "rope a dope" trick in 2014. Dubs missed two early goal chances which have forced Donegal into a plan B which McGuiness never had. They were too cocky as they were kicking points from 45m in the full belief that Donegal would fold up and roll over. They got caught on the hop and can now play against that defensive system at their ease. Mayopressing is the only tactic tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1091 - 07/08/2019 23:55:19 2222524 Link 1 |
The one goal games in 2016 (replay) and 2017 were when we employed a sweeper and had Clarke in goal. Horan's tendency to do the opposite of both of these key factors would make me nervous in terms of preventing majors for the Dubs. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 08/08/2019 10:32:42 2222601 Link 0 |
Donegal didn't in 11 or 14. Mayo conceded no goals in 12 and won Total scores Mayo v Dublin 2013 to 2017 11-80 to 5-88 Doesn't take a genius to work out that goals were a huge factor in those matches. centerfield (Mayo) - Posts: 360 - 09/08/2019 05:10:07 2222906 Link 0 |
and it goes on, lucky Dublin didn't score more goals today too. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2705 - 10/08/2019 19:43:50 2223548 Link 0 |
