Replying To Heftydickonem:  "Ah I see now why you were complaining about me in the other thread, it is what I have written here that you have issue with. I'm not sure what you mean about grey areas etc., either Reck was hit or he wasn't. There is perhaps a grey area in assessing which rule should be applied and subsequent punishment should be chosen, but not in assessing if a player has been hit or not when there are replays to illustrate this. However, If the clip of the incident becomes available online and you can highlight to me where the contact with Reck was made, i will hold my hands up and acknowledge that I was wrong. Until then, I won't comment further on this."
striking or attempting to strike, what bit of this don't you get?
I have watched the replays from all angles and in my view,2 show hom hitting him and 1 is from the side which makes it look like he didnt.
even if damo hadnt fallen to the ground, mcgrath was heading for an early shower.is it ok until he gets a finger broken or what?

No issue with the card as I said but the 3rd angle you mention clearly shows he hit his hurl so I don't see what your issue is with not saying that.
Paudie Maher got roasted for going down after getting hit in the leg ....yey I think this is a clear case of simulation and the only person ho called him out on it was Brendan Bugler.

Either way Mcgrath deserved what he got at a minimum but I don't see your issue with stating he didnt get a belt on any part of his body.

Same effect on the day but not overall for the player."
That's what I meant.

Wexford were simulating an All Ireland with the Leinster homecoming.

Replying To Oldtourman:  "There is only one thing. Look at the expression on John McGraths face after the'strike'- note the commas. He looked purely to be saying 'I am in trouble here but I did not mean it', and I accept 100% he meant no injury to Reck,-- but in all the circumstances it was a very foolish thing to do since he was on a yellow card. I have seen two generations of McGraths playing with Tipp and I don't think I have ever seen one of them pull a really dirty stroke, but John left Cleere little option here."
Agree but Cleere has no right to make a new rule or alter one. Many players have walked the line with are straight red card. Mahony went this year and rightly so. Conor Gleeson in 2017 and missed an All-Ireland for a very innocuous retaliation swing but again the rule was applied. I hate to see any player miss a final but selective (this was not a judgement call) use of the rule is not acceptable and Cleere's whistling days of big games should be in his rear mirror.

Reading reports, comments etc since the game, most of it is complete rubbish tbh. Wexford lack tactical nounce, Tipp beat them with true hurling ability, Wexford caved in. 5 points is nothing in hurling, if Wexford had lost a 5 minute lead go with 3 minutes left, fair enough, there was 21 minutes plus extra time against a battle hardened Tipp team, the bulk of whom are All Ireland winners and most of them with far more experience of this stage than a young Wexford side playing in a first semi final in 12 years. I would have been surprised if Tipp hadn't come back. Wexford showed great hurling ability and heart to the end, fair play to Tipp, but articles like Brendan Cummins display a complete lack of sense. Don't forget Tipp should have been down to 13 men, Wexford were denied a clear penlay and also a free at the end that would have levelled the game, It's disappointing, I was gutted at the end, but Wexford have some great hurlers and it will be a great incentive to push on, mistakes learnt and improved on. And if Liam Ryan and Lee Chin don't win All Stars proves that's a joke as well. Up Wexford.

Your assessment is fair. Wexford had a wonderful opportunity to reach an All Ireland final but Tipp won through experience and by dealing with the hand they were dealt with. Wexford had a system but that system lacked adaptability on the day. Davy said that playing against 14 didn't suit them - seems he didn't factor in the probability of having an extra man. At that stage of the game the winning and losing was in the players' own hands, reading the game, picking up the loose men, making best use of the extra man and leadership - it was hard to understand the amount of space given to the Tipp forwards.
Yes, Wexford should have been awarded a penalty but Tipp were also denied at least one legitimate goal. It was a pity Wexford couldn't make it for hurling's sake and for followers of the game outside of Tipp and KK.
