Cork Versus Kilkenny

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Cork Have won 30 all Irelands I would say half of those victorys have come from the line, We were shocking today in the second half 8 scores in a row before a reaction from the bench. Our forwards are immense and it truly is a sin that horgan has not got a celtic cross the man is one of the best iv seen in a cork shirt. As for john meyler I think the game is up we now need to look at a new man. Full credit to kk today they never let up they kept going kept it lit. As for the winners my prediticion is limerick they have been coming for a while the won last last year the politics seems to be sorted what beats them will win it imo all the best to the remaining teams

Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "So what do you want?

Go back to the old days of the Connacht Senior Hurling Championship?

Winners: Galway 25 - Mayo 1 (1909) - Roscommon 1 (1913)

Galway play in Leinster now, if you don't like it, leave. You threatened to do that last year, until you found out Munster won't have you.

Stop your whinging."
Cac, a chacnaí!

Personally couldn't care less if a Munster team other than Limerick never won the all ireland again.

We're meeting the successful hurling team of all time in two weeks. That's the bench mark I'm working off of, not their province."
This particular KK team are not the most successful team of all time. Their last All Ireland win was 2015 and they lost Leinster again this year. Limerick are the All Ireland champions, the League champions and the Munster champions! They are favourites to win it again and rightly so. Limerick have a huge panel, great hurling ability, physical strength and the confidence that comes from winning three major titles. Obviously beating KK won't be easy but it will be a great preparation for the final!

Settle petal, you seem to have taken that a little personally. Go and enjoy your win.

Replying To katser:  "I'm absolutely devastated for Cork today, I expected so much more from this wonderful hurling County who I've always admired...Devastated! But Wow KK well done they were brilliant and for my favourite hurler Big Walter "Wally" Walsh delighted to see him come on and score massive important outstanding points!!"
Cork are missing the steel their half back line in particular had in the early noughties. And not forgetting the Rock. And its hard to see it coming back any time soon. Great attacking players though as always. I feel sorry for Pa Horgan what a brilliant player but then a lot of great players never got their hands on Liam. I think the 2 semifinals will be tough hard games. And while we will be the underdogs against Tipp I see it being a 50/50 game. Kilkenny v Limerick will be another hard game. Too close to call.

Well, thank you. Thought it was fairly obvious also.

Cork inability to win anything in the air in the half back line came back to haunt them again.. It's a problem since the great mid noughties team.

Too many people who should know better were writing off KK. They are a very consistent team in terms of performance under Cody..you know the workrate you'll get.

One doesn't play a county but a team representing the county and this particular team is not the team that used to waltz through Leinster and blow every other team, bar Tipp, off the pitch by half time. That day is gone Cockney, you should relax and enjoy the win and not to be so disparaging of the Galway hurlers. Without club hurling lasting in Galway throughout history, you'd still be playing cricket in KK, as you were when Michael Cusack, another cricket man, learned the rules of hurling from two Galway hurling clubs in 1883!

Handy win for Tipp against a team who will never get that far again!

Cats prove again why we can never right them off. Limerick by far the hardest match up but they'll have to over come the munster winners curse. Break not as long as it used to be but still a factor. If Limerick are on form can't see them not winning. 3rd match in a row for KK in Croker. That should stand to them.

Traditional teams vs the undogs. Everyone will want a Wex vs KK final but you can never right off Tipp/KK.

When Kilkenny won their first hurling all ireland in 1904 captain Jer Doheny said 'In Cork and Tipperary they laugh at our love of cricket... but in Kilkenny we love our cricket, and we love our hurling too!'.

Anthony Daly stole most of that iconic speech 91 years later.

Replying To ballydalane:  "Great second half performance and much improved display from the Leinster final. Richie Hogan showing why the decision to only bring him on in injury time the last day was ridiculous. Walter Walsh much more effective coming on as a sub with a point to prove.

Hugely disappointing performance from Cork after the start they had. Patrick Horgan carried them more or less.

The defence is a worry and will be our undoing. Just no pace there. Got away with it today but the Limerick forwards will be licking their lips at the prosect of running at them."
Agree with your comment about the kk defence. As I suspected though Cork really struggled against sustained intensity.
Good luck in the semi final. I think you might need it, but that's for another day.

Very enjoyable match today I thought. I thought KK were dead and buried when Cork got their first goal but credit to KK, they showed the usual never say die attitude.
Their backs are a bit porous in my view but they've nothing to lose v Limerick where they are going to be totally written off.
