Interesting match up. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2087 - 09/07/2019 10:16:09 2208327 Link 0 |
Tyrone will win this handy enough like last year. Mayo beat themselves (17 wides) when they played the Rossies and would more than likely hammer them if they met each other again. Rossies then beat an extremely poor Galway team. Think they could be in for a real hiding this weekend. Tyrone are building nicely and look a dead cert to make it into the last 4. Im actually really looking forward to this, think it will be great game, two of the best teams in Ireland in Ireland capable of bringing absolute Thunder and Skill in equal proportions. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 09/07/2019 10:46:43 2208339 Link 5 |
A lot of people writing off Roscommon even before the super eights begin. Roscommon have good footballers but were a little fragile when the going got tough but Cunningham has instilled a bit of belief along with a bit of an edge. They have beaten two division one teams to get this far and the super eights are not new to them. They will struggle against the Dubs but will not fear either Tyrone or Cork. Tyrone are really starting to motor now and the game against Ros will show if they are ready to have another shot at the Dubs. Really looking forward to all the weekend games.

Tyrone to win by at least 4 for me. Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 09/07/2019 10:58:21 2208347 Link 2 |
Interesting game. Still hard to know where Tyrone are at. I talked them down at the start of the year as I felt they didn't beat too much to get to the final last year and then the finale was a damp squib. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7831 - 09/07/2019 11:06:49 2208350 Link 2 |
I think this one is as interesting as Kerry v Mayo because it will tell us a lot about where both teams are at. JoeSoap (Donegal) - Posts: 1432 - 09/07/2019 11:11:44 2208355 Link 0 |
If Roscommon can get a good start unlike their Connaught final, they are in with a really good chance. Tyrone are really good at leading for an entire game, but when they go behind and go in at half time down, they are a different team imo. Tyrone win this at a canter.......Roscommon beat a nothing Galway team. Roscommon will lose all 3 games. Rayo1 (Galway) - Posts: 140 - 09/07/2019 12:07:16 2208382 Link 2 |
Yes agree.....Roscommon are a nothing team really. Suffered heavy defeats in super 8s last season and I expect something similar this time. Cork will beat them too.

Does it hurt?

Roscommon getting alot of bashing here especially from galway folk which is needed or deserved really. ask me the same question 3 weeks ago i would have said id expect ros to go very close to beating tyrone but with the run they have been on it hurts me to say tyrone by 4 or 5. from a Roscommon point of view this will be the real test to see if we have improved on last year, confidenece should be high after beating Mayo and Galway away from home (despite what some detractors are saying about our opponents performances). Also we have a lot of players who were not involved in last years Super 8's, so hopefully wouldn't be carrying the baggage from that. Also we have added a bit more physicality to the team. I am still unsure if we have got an effective defensive play in place, but I hope the team prove me wrong. It now waits to be seen if we can go toe to toe with a seasoned team like Tyrone who have built a bit of momentum since the Donegal defeat. Come Sat around 6:30 we will know how far this team has improved under Anthony Cunningham if indeed they have. Rosineri1 (UK) - Posts: 2099 - 09/07/2019 12:49:57 2208401 Link 0 |
Think Roscommon can win this and give themselves a real chance of making semis. Done everything asked of them so far and they're no soft touch in the Hyde. Tissues by 2. ponga (Mayo) - Posts: 647 - 09/07/2019 12:57:14 2208407 Link 1 |
Tyrone have used the qualifiers to get their mojo back and work out their method of play. Hard to know where they're at exactly as Cavan had very little intensity last weekend, and the game was done before half time. Rossies have been left idle since the Galway game which may or may not be a benefit. moylagh (Meath) - Posts: 484 - 09/07/2019 12:58:16 2208409 Link 0 |
I think Roscommon will win and I am looking forward to it, having 50% DNA from there I will be shouting for them to take Sam home

Rosscommon look a much stronger proposition than at the same stage last year when they had that "glad to be here" look about them. downredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 567 - 09/07/2019 13:07:12 2208418 Link 1 |
Ros will ambush them in the Hyde as they will be exhausted from the 12th celebrations and all the singing and marching. Could Tyrone sing the anthem before the game or will they be wiped out from bus trip? maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1193 - 09/07/2019 13:09:19 2208419 Link 1 |
I'm not bashing Roscommon but it's true that Mayo had 17 wides and should have beaten them while Galway were beating them handy till they put the slippers on and lit up the pipe! Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 09/07/2019 13:45:48 2208438 Link 1 |
Fridge - what is your opinion on the behaviour of the Tyrone team members going through Aughnacloy after the game in Clones? Have to say I was surprised & dismayed. Not a dig, just wondering what Tyrone supporters think of it.
