Replying To Young_gael:  "Yeah last 10 minutes Donegal pulled away. And on Keogan, he may well be in the shake-up for the nomination. Cant wait to watch the Westmeath super 8's game and pass comment... oh wait."
Ah your a great gosson.

Donegal will be happy, gave their fans and sponsors a big day in Ballybofey, comfortable win, good scoring difference and now move onto the big two games in the group without wasting too much energy."
Kerry will fancy themselves to better that score difference.

Let's hope Donegal have plenty in the tank because they will need it all next week against Kerry. And to think some people said Kerry wouldn't get out of the group..

Without wasting too much energy? Hmm big statement.

No bother. I thought you must have been on the raz still from yesterday.

Ha, not quite. Was in Croker for the Hurling.

The score I saw and thought was the full time result had only 3 points in it but evidently that wasn't actually the full time result.

Just stopping off on way home great performance in third quarter and really should have put more daylight during our purple patch. But it's a learning experience for this very young team. Disappointing with end score. But we move on to mayo next week.

A good performance for 60mins but ran out of steam. McHugh was best Donegal's player, has great pace and set up a lot of scores.

Well done our lads and hard luck meath. Good exciting game until the last 10. Meath can build on this. Could beat Mayo next weekend if they convert their goal chances.

Gallen took his goal superbly.

The final scoreline flattered Donegal. Meath were in this game until about 5 minutes to go, they played some great stuff but just ran out of steam. Meath found themselves in a great position midway through the second half when 2 points up, they had a couple of chances to extend the lead but didnt take the and Donegal took over after that. The only real problem I can see with this Meath side is their kickouts, not good enough at this level but otherwise they were excellent.

Donegal will have to seriously improve to beat Kerry but I am confident we will. We probably needed a good hard game to prepare for Kerry. I fancy Meath to beat Mayo. Been a huge admirer of this Mayo team but they just seem to have run out of steam, on the other hand Meath are a team on an upward curve.

Probably Donegal's toughest game so far. The final scoreline was certainly flattering. I thought Meath defended well and were the first team to keep Jamie Brennan relatively quiet. I did not see what happened in the warm ups but did Jamie pick up a knock? He was certainly receiving treatment right up to throw in and I felt he did not get to the tempo of the game. A few of Donegal's players suffered the same. However the final 10 minutes were very encouraging and the team showed good character. Huge improvement needed for next weekend. If Donegal give the Kerry forwards the same room given to Meath's they will be severely punished. Good to see Paddy step up again and Gallen making a real impact when coming on. Disgrace that himself and Meath's James Conlon denied right to play with their respective age groups in the under twenties. Best of luck to Meath looking forward. They can go into next weekend very optimistic.

Yeah. Kick outs have been a problem all year. Cost us 3 points per game. But colgan is trying his best we have a excellent young keeper coming through but he still very young. We getting there. While I'm disappointed, some of the lads played really well, very disappointed with the amount of Meath fans who turned up, when we do become contenders again these games will be packed with bandwagons, sorry I support in good and bad times, and this young Meath team who are definitely on the way up deserved better than that. Sorry , rant over.
On another note congratulations to donegal, I do sincerely hope you go all the way, your fans are a credit to you, and while me and family were severely outnumbered in the part of stand we were, you were voice full, but never derogatory and very humble in victory. A credit to gaa. Well done and I sincerely hope you win it out.
Onto mayo with hope in our hearts

Replying To Mobot:  "Would you prefer if Donegal posters played down their chances and didn't give an honest opinion? Most Donegal supporters were confident going into the Ulster final v Cavan based on our performance against Tyrone with the first half display being Donegal's best half of football since Jim's days in charge. If you can't be confident in your team when they are playing well, when can you be?

Our performance v Cavan didn't reach the level it did v Tyrone but was still more than enough and the good thing about all our games to date is that there is still plenty to work on and with the hurt of not making it out of the super 8 group last year I can see a strong performance being delivered this sunday. League games between Donegal and Meath won't mean anything when the ball in thrown in as this Donegal team is operating at a much higher level than what they were a few months ago. I'd also expect Paddy McBrearty to come on another level or two from the Ulster championship. I'm sure a lot of his ACL rehab thoughts over the last year were focused on making his debut in the super 8's.

Meath are a good side and this year has been a success and I really expect them to come close to winning one of their super 8 games and their game at home to Kerry could be very interesting. They have very good individual defenders who will be under a lot of pressure this weekend and I expect them to make things tough for a good chunk of this match. Donegal should pull away when gaps start the appear in the last 20 mins and I'd expect/hope for a win on a scoreline of 2-19 to 1-13 or something like that."
Not a bad prediction. Game was decided in final 15/20 mins and scoreline flattered Donegal. Meath will have a great chance next weekend

I would like to start by congratulating meath on a great display, I honestly didn't see it coming, the final score line flattered us. The most pleasing aspect of today's game was when meath posed a serious question, Donegal were able to answer it. This was another milestone in the development of this young team.

Donegal are in a good place going in to next weekend, the media will now be focusing on Kerry as the team to challenge Dublin leaving us to quietly go about our business in preparation for the game

Can some of the Meath posters confirm if James Conlon was eligible for your u20s squad this year?

Amazed they didn't mention it on the Sunday Game. But the Donegal subs made a huge contribution in the last 10 mins. We couldn't compete with them. We didn't have the same strength in depth. Some very good footballers coming through in Donegal. Very strong panel.

Red all day and twice on a Sunday. Have seen too many broken legs and ACLs/MCLs snapped to give any sympathy for the defender. Very lucky he didn't injure himself badly.

No he's 21, the guy that came on Shane Walsh is 18 and was eligible, but he needed to concentrate on his leaving cert so the u20 management were reluctant to pick him, so Andy gave him the call up to senior.
