Or maybe it proves the current system is working really well

Kilkenny and Wexford??? I do anticipate that Tipp will beat Laois, but can see Wexford toppling Tipp. Cork will need to beat Kk and then Limerick. It's all ahead of us...beat has yet to come! Rockies (Cork) - Posts: 947 - 07/07/2019 18:34:10 2207219 Link 0 |
At least we know who Brian Cody's Successor will be! Well Done Laois.. Absolutely Delighted. Galway should offer Eddie Brennan Freedom of the City to become their Manager. SAMMYTHEBULL (Galway) - Posts: 1646 - 07/07/2019 18:34:25 2207220 Link 0 |

Its only sport - There are bigger issues in life - Losing respect for someone over the result of a sports game, when you've never met or interacted with said person in the real world is a tad weird but we are where we are. FWIW - You are also on here more or less straight after the game, and you, like me have congratulated Laois. You seem to have an issue with the use of the word "delighted" - I stand by it. Laois had the balls, the hunger, the fight, right attitude and mentality to not only compete, but beat the bigger county in terms of population, funding, experience at that level etc. No whinging about their 7 day turnaround, or the massive advantages Dublin have, just a team with guts, and hard work proving that if you have the right mentality and leave your pre conceived excuses at home before a game throws in that you can mix it with a better, more talented bunch. Hard work, application, bravery and heart will triumph. Finally, congrats to yourself for being a true county GAA man. I didn't realise there where certain rules to it! You must be very proud :) waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 07/07/2019 18:38:14 2207224 Link 9 |
Which team takes the 6th place in Munster? Let's see how Laois do in Leinster next year and then we can consider expanding the championship.

Can't come as that much of a surprise to you. Seeing as you were belittling this team only a few weeks ago. Remember that?

Pity they don't have J P, they could become professional and beat everybody. SAMMYTHEBULL (Galway) - Posts: 1646 - 07/07/2019 18:48:37 2207239 Link 0 |
Great result for Laois BUT I'm afraid it highlights the current mediocrity of Leinster hurling (exciting, unpredictable and entertaining as it may be). I had heard people say that they wouldn't rule out Dublin beating Tipp. I think today's result shows how fanciful that thinking was. Tipp would have accounted for Dublin comfortably next week. ballydalane (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1246 - 07/07/2019 19:06:23 2207256 Link 0 |
Well behind? So by how many points do you think Cork will thrash Kilkenny by next week?

In fairness saying lost respect for yi was maybe a bit harsh. Was still very raw. And I came on straight after the match to congratulate Laois, ur right. And to be fair I find ur posts on Dublin football a great read, by all accounts. But to come on here to see how delighted u were for laois to win. Literally straight after the final whistle... I think its a tad bit embarrassing. And it's not the first time in fairness. But look the non dub posters prob like you a bit more for it so mission accomplished eh.. And as I said maybe it's just me but I could never go against my own county. Nothing to do with being a true ""GAA man". I just could never even fathom someone being up for a team against their own, I just don't understand it. Each to their own I suppose... Love comments like this will only fire Wexford up even more and hopefully win an All Ireland and prove you all wrong

Possibly. But I think DJ Carey is more likely to be Cody's successor as things stand.

Can you two Dublin football fans take your petty row somewhere else?

Doubt it. Brennan a cert if Cody calls it a day this year. A bad year for Leix next year however could open the door to Henry especially if he repeats his success this year with Shamrocks. Much as I like him I think time is against DJ, very much a 90's hurling man. Success with IT Carlow wasn't spectacular with a lot of talent on hand. Personally I'd say DJ is more likely to be next Carlow manager if Bonner steps down as expected. Unless that is Carlow can tempt Henry to broaden his cv (assuming he doesn't pip Brennan to Kilkenny job). Onion Breath (Carlow) - Posts: 1412 - 07/07/2019 19:44:32 2207310 Link 0 |

I'm from Meath and follow other counties in the Liwm McCarthy. But if I was from a top county like Dublin I'd have been in portlaoise cheering them on. Why didn't you go wayno? Can't believe you continue to pay into football turkey shoots but ignore the Dublin hurlers who are almost always involved in tight exciting matches.
