what is the general thinking going into this game? obviously on all known form dublin should win it handy
but as for this cork side..i have no words. where are they in the pecking order of things?..
this team got relegated from division 2 and i believed that this season would have ended last month with a semi final loss in munster and indeed the following qualifier..but something has changed with this side.

what is the prediction for this game? can cork put it up to dublin and give them a stern test or will it be an absolute walkover?

my own thinking is i have no idea where we are at.the drubbing of limerick was in my mind a freak result and the performance against kerry in the munster final where cork should have won but came out with a respectable loss (moral victory) was also against the form book which brings me to todays result against laois..now i know the opposition was not top calibre but to put up 4-20 is some going against any side.and its baffling to know where cork are now and probably wont really know until the tyrone game

as for my thoughts on the dublin game..i may still be on an absolute high from the laois game but i believe cork can run them maybe 5 or 6 points close.(who knows couple goals and we win) but that is my heart talking and i know full well those notions could well be destroyed come 7:10 pm saturday evening

Cork gave us a good text and their scoring prowess against Laois was impressive
Sadly Dublin will win at a canter
The bookies have Dublin 1/50

Like you were saying, it's impossible to gauge Cork at the moment, other than that they're playing very well. I'm not yet convinced that we're quite at the races yet. The next few weeks will reveal all. Dublin by 5.

No chance. I'd say Dublin will win handy and Tyrone won't be too bothered by us. I would hope to at least put some performances together and build for next year. You cannot become a top team from the low base we are starting from in one season.

Hard to know where both teams are, there is little in Corks championship form to indicate we should be taking this game lightly.

Dublin havnt been put to the pin of their collar and squeezed this year yet and Dublin playing the way they do expansively will always cough up chances, bough we have some bodies to come back.

It's some goal and point tally Cork have accumulated in their games so far.

I won't lie, I expect to win, because we are a great team and we will respect this fixture wholly, but not fear it.

It's really nice to see Cork back though at sunny days in Croke Park deep in the summer, it's been to long, we look forward to welcoming you to Croker.

I was so unimpressed with Cork against Kerry that I tipped Laois in today's game. I think this could be a fascinating enough game. I do hope that Cork improve as the Super 8s progress but suspect that they are meeting Dublin too early. They haven't had a real test yet and Dublin will be a different proposition. However they should fancy their chances in the other 3 games. Could they take Tyrone?

They were beaten in a munster final joxer?
So how have they not had a real test yet?
You do post some daft things.

Munster is not a competition. How could Cork be expected to compete against Kerry PLC? They clearly knew the back door beckoned and simply didn't bother to interrupt the annual Kerry PLC coronation, number 81 I believe. What a farce! So in real competition they have played Limerick and now Laois. Dublin will be a different prospect but I believe that they will be well equipped to give Tyrone and the Rossies a good game.

Agree with this. We were very good tonight. Some of the skills on show in Thurles from Cork players (and even Donie Kingston, Evan Carroll at the end and Martin Scully) was a joy to watch. Cork, I counted, only kicked 4 wides in the game. We have also scored 10 goals un in three championship matches. However, Dublin are an entirely different animal and Tyrone at this moment are well ahead too. We will hopefully learn something from the games, improve and come back stronger next year.

I think this game is beyond Cork.

The make or break game of this group is Tyrone v Cork. The question for me is not whether Cork can put it to Dublin - it's what can they do with Tyrone And I have no idea what way that will go.

Would you completely rule out Cork in a Semi Final? I did, I'm not so sure now

Let's be straight and honest my good man , a Munster final is only a title. Like a Leinster title , it's of little or no meaning. It doesn't qualify as a test.

I would be very wary of the Rossies myself, two division one finalists of the last twelve months already took them for granted and were dumped unceremoniously in the Hunger games with the other waifs and strays.

They will have a massive say in this group, its not the same happy to get this far Rossies, of the quarters of the last few years.

To say a team Is untested usually means they have had an easy run of games. Cork definitely had a test in the Munster final and failed it ultimately. I think joxers comment was tongue in cheek.

I don't see cork troubling Dublin in Croke Park but they could certainly give the others a good game. I wouldn't count them out at all.

They are certainly being underestimated by many. It should not be a huge shock to anybody to see them beat Tyrone and Cork to qualify.

Liked the look of Cork v Laois yesterday. They play a nice blend of a running game but also not afraid to launch it in to Hurley who is a serious ball winner at 14. Saying that the handicap is -11 and I don't feel it will be too far off that. Dublin have gone away and got another 3 weeks training under their belts and I expect the Dublin we have seen so far will have stepped up another level and will improve gradually during the group stage. If things go right v Cork it'll be a double figure win in my opinion.
