First of all, Donegal are a fantastic team. They dominated a Tyrone team that reached an all Ireland Final last year. I had my doubts about them, at first I thought Tyrone just played badly, but when I saw Donegal last Sunday, any doubts about them soon disappeared. From their goalkeeper to the bench, they have fantastic players all around the pitch. There was no shame in losing to them, and for me, it just confirmed that Cavan Football is still a few years behind the top teams. Its not in terms of coaching, physicality, endurance, effort, or hard work. Its in terms of intelligence on the pitch, the right decision making. Cavan conceded 1-11 in turnovers to Donegal, turnovers caused by players making unintelligent decisions on the pitch, such as running into tackles, giving a silly pass, taking the wrong option. In contrast, Donegal played with intelligence, made very little errors and their decision making was impeccable. Take for instance the Donegal kickout, if the keeper couldn't go short, he kicked the ball nearly as far as our 45m line and Murphy or McFadden caught them at ease, surely after the first 2/3 of these, the Cavan midfield should've picked up on this, as a county footballer, you shouldn't need a manager shouting in on the sideline with instructions. If Cavan are to improve, then lads need to working on their own game play, improve their making, stop running into tackles and stop playing silly passes. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 28/06/2019 09:56:31 2202009 Link 0 |
Hit the nail on the head. Hopefully we can regroup and come back strong again for next game. I heard we picked up a lot of knocks on Sunday- unsure if my sources are reliable or this is 'pub talk'. Good few players not training this week. Not what we need we round 4 qualifiers next weekend. breffblue101 (Cavan) - Posts: 13 - 28/06/2019 10:37:00 2202021 Link 0 |
Thanks for the detailed response on the pitch i hope it didn't take long to type it up as i was only joking. RHF (Cavan) - Posts: 839 - 28/06/2019 11:02:31 2202029 Link 0 |
As bad as this board is, it'd be made a good bit more bearable if you'd stop entertaining The Quiet Man with a response. Skelling (USA) - Posts: 289 - 29/06/2019 14:06:22 2202357 Link 1 |
Really Skelling does the truth hurt you. I get confronted I reply it's my nature not to turn the other cheek and to be honest why read my posts and I don't give a rats ass what you think. If you like yes men well I am the wrong person for as I stated I call it as it is but refrain from really telling it as it is because it would cause a huge issue. U20 game tomorrow at 1600hrs see if you can make it to see if there is potential for the future. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 29/06/2019 15:08:37 2202373 Link 0 |

Anybody but Tyrone in next round and if we can avoid Mayo thats a bonus. I heard them saying on sky after the game they have double header next Saturday live. Is it likely all games be on Saturday with hurling on Sunday? Mike_Clitoris69 (Cavan) - Posts: 230 - 30/06/2019 09:35:43 2202710 Link 0 |
I hope we get Mayo. They are a big scalp but more than beatable. Going into the super 8s as the team that took them out would be a big boost. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 490 - 30/06/2019 10:26:27 2202734 Link 0 |
Round 4 qualifers have been fixed for next Saturday from start of year.

Glad to hear that. Why do they say games played over the weekend of the 6th and 7th. Could simply say all games on Saturday very misleading

Well they might be there for the taking as they are down key players to their panel. Ruane, D O'Connor and Keegan they might even be down players after last night we will know in time. By the way beating Armagh was a big ask last night as well for they had aspirations of getting to the Super 8 and have developed into a team for the future.

You have got to be fecking joking I never had much dealings with him and in fairness to him he never had to tell me what to do for I knew my job. He did a lot for Breifini. Nice try however.

Cavan v Tyrone Meath v Mayo Cork v Clare Galway v Laois. that is not the draw I wish for but that is unfortunately the way it will be. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5518 - 30/06/2019 14:05:10 2202873 Link 0 |

They cant face Cork. There is no automatic home draw for the lower division teams. The venues are neutral.
