Replying To Joxer:  "They missed 3 absolute sitters at a time when there was little between the sides. Had they scored then then there would have been daylight between them. Instead they surrendered."
Meath missed goal chances that day too Joxer, one of the laois goal chances should of been scored but the other two were at best half chances, but the scoreline did flatter meath a little bit but we were still the better team, as I've said before I'm confident of meath beating Clare and then hopefully we can prove a few people wrong in the super eights.

Laois vs. Cork: amazing one of these will reach the last 8. Laois are a good side, Cork look to have found divine inspiration after a diabolical league. Cork rattled Kerry but perhaps that's a symptom of Kerry's lightness at the back, rather than Cork's quality. In saying that I was well impressed with a few of the Cork lads running hard at pace at them. Football is an incredibly tradition driven game, typically teams will simply perform by their name and by their heritage. By that logic I can see a Cork resurgence to the last 8. They're in for a rough ride when they get there though.

Mayo vs. Galway: perhaps Mayo ARE cursed. The injury list and speculations are wild. Galway to recover and put the Connacht final behind them. Mayo are like a tired and wounded old warrior surrounded by a ring of swords. Their time may be up but I believe they'll go down swinging if they are to be beaten. Galway by 1.

Tyrone vs. Cavan: I feel sorry for poor Cavan. The draw from hell. The human personification of what they'll be facing is quicksand. They're a good, spirited, athletic team, but over the course of the 70 minutes they'll slowly be suffocated and sniffed out. Tyrone are a machine. They're beatable but hard beaten. Tyrone by 3/4. In this one I can't see any other result unless Cavan can get 2/3 goals early and push on.

Meath vs. Clare: Meath are there for the taking. They were atrocious in the Leinster final. They're improving, and will improve again in the coming years. My biggest issue with Meath is their incredibly inconsistent performances. They may well lose this game and I wouldn't be surprised if they do. They could also win by 10 points and again, I wouldn't be surprised. Clare are a good team, and if they can bring a certain vigor and intensity they can win. In saying that, like the Cork game, tradition and heritage means a lot here. Meath will likely perform much better than v. Dublin and if they can do so, they should win. The Super 8s won't be kind to the winner of this game.

At least there's one person posting on here with Legend in their name that deserves a bit of respect. :). I'll be rooting for ye, like I will for Laois also. It's important that Leinster counties break through.

Replying To Ned_Stormcrow:  "Cork v Laois: Laois. No idea why. It kills me that one of these will be in the super 8s and we (probably) won't.
Galway v Mayo : Galway. Mayo just have too many injuries.
Cavan v Tyrone : Tyrone. Barring the best Cavan performance in decades it's going to be Tyrone. But it'll be close I think.
Clare v Meath : again, I'm sickened one of these will be in the super 8s with handy routes compared to ourselves. Clare hopefully. Thought Meath were shocking against Dublin, struggling to see how they made it out of division two."
a bitter little Cavan man

What's bitter about me? Meath were shocking in their provincial final, we scored 2-16 in ours and refused to throw in the towel against a superior team. Can you lads say the same? No.

Some of the fans got a little carried away,
Meath are not battle hardened and need a year or two yet ,

Cork -
Galway -too many key players injured for Mayo unfortunately
Tyrone - a very dangerous team IMO..
Meath-will up their game considerably after Leinster Final.

Replying To Royal.Legend:  "It's called luck of the draw Ned, last year meath got Tyrone in the first round of the qualifiers the year before we got Donegal it's swings and roundabouts, Donegal hammered Cavan in the Ulster final so perhaps Cavan arnt ready for the big boys just yet."
Is 5 points a hammering?

Have to agree with you. Mayo, Tyrone and Galway should be put into super 8. They are solid Division 1 sides. Cavan beat Monaghan a division 1 side and a handy Division 2 side in Armagh. They have been a Division 1 side (up and down) over last few years. Meath are now a Division 1 side (though they will most likely only be spending one year at that level before taking their place as a solid Division 2 side). Meath v Cavan should be the playoff. Cork beat Limerick to get this far. Not fair in comparison to Cavan for sure. However, our 'reward' for beating an equally average Laois side will be two hidings in Croke Park before a dead rubber home game against Roscommon played in front of 100 people. Justice perhaps.

Cork vs Loais : Run of wins will be massive for this Loais team even if they don't make the 8's. For me Cork have shown enough form in their strong performance against Limerick and battle against Kerry to take this. Cork by 3

Meath vs Clare: I think Meath will pick themselves up and give a good account of themselves. Even if they were hammered two weeks ago it was by the best team to ever play. Clare's a good team but this may be a game too far. Meath by 2

Tyrone vs Cavan: The draw we didn't want when it came out but as the week goes on I've given ourselves more of a chance. Can see it being tighter than expected but Tyrone just pull away in the end. Tyrone by 2

Mayo vs Galway: Galway can't play that badly twice and they'll be looking for a big performance. Mayo battling through these qualifiers with lads falling all over the field. They'll go out fighting but Galway by 1

To be fair it was a five point hammering. Donegal could have and should have racked up a bigger score.

Cavan were spirited and kept plugging away and made a spectacle of it at least but never looked like troubling Donegal.

I think that might have an effect on the game v Tyrone.

Galway/Mayo - when the dust settles on who's injured and who's not come throw in time, I expect to see a game following the same lines of recent encounters. It will be close, intense and I am looking forward to it. Galway to just shade it.

Meath/Clare - I can't see beyond Meath here. I think it will be close for the most part with the Royals pulling away to win by 2-4 points.

Tyrone/Cavan - I would like to see Cavan do it, but I think Tyrone are just to strong and experienced for them at this moment. Tyrone by 4/5.

Cork/Laois - I find this the hardest to call. Laois have definitely made good progress over the last couple of seasons. I don't really know enough on where Cork are at. They looked OK in the Munster final, but how much of that was down to Kerry's game on the day? I'm gonna say Laois....
