Replying To bennybunny:  "Hoggie is immense. Impossible to block or hook and a deadly first touch. He missed a few today but was outstanding again. Cork issue is to get the support cast working with him. Today, Dan Kearney and Harnedy were like new players and Alan Cadogan gave a brilliant performance after he came on.

For Limerick fans, tough luck today. Beaten by the better team by a distance. You are now where we were last week. The lads will watch the video and improve the next day. Limerick have a big say yet.

For Cork, a brilliant morale booster. Needed after last week. Must be forgotten tomorrow though. Waterford next. On todays performance, you would say we will win handy. If players think like that then we could get caught."
What a turn around from last week. Just goes to show, that when we fight for every ball we're a serious hurling team. What pleased me the most yesterday was the intensity, they never stopped and completely hounded Limerick out of it. The panel is also looking much better. However, as you say, It's only one game and needs to replicated the next day. As for Hoggy, I've been watching him since he was 12/13. The man is a magician.

Replying To slayer:  "Well done Cork.

Very impressed with their work rate and how they planned to dominate both 40's. Disappointed for our lads, great champions and now need to lift it going forward. Three all-Ireland finals before we can even get out of Munster :-)"
That's the problem Slayer , Limerick were deserving champions last year but the Munster championship is so competitive that almost every game is a total dogfight...if you aren't on he top of your game you are in trouble and being all Ireland champions means everyone wants to take your scalp.....a whole new learning curve for thus young talented Limerick team, I have no doubt they will bounce back and gave a big say before the summer is over....

Hanging my head in shame this morning for writing off Cork so easy.

Munster Championship is not over by a long shot Cork have opened it up and now everyone Tipp included looking over their shoulder.

5 points is the minimum magic number to get out of this great championship!

To be honest, I wasn't very confident at half time. We were very badly caught, position-wise for the Limerick goal (a rocket, which would have taken Nash's head off if he had got in the way), and I felt were just about containing Limerick. In the second half, the team buckled down to their job and gradually stifled the life out of Limerick. The feeling at the end was unbelievable.

Now we look for consistency of performance, Not yet out of the wood by a long shot. Limerick are in the same position we were in last week.

Only got to see the last 25 mins but thought Limerick lacked a bit of savvy. Cork were in the groove and when they get on top maybe a Limerick player should have picked up a knock so that the team could reset.
They will learn from this though. I think you will see some reaction from them next time out

Very good post, was thinking the same at half-time, but the work rate from cork was top class, they fought for everything, we were lucky ye didn't beat us more, two weeks to get it right.

Yes, but the town goal in Limerick is always the scoring goal and a nice breeze was blowing down there as well. Our management team I thought were far too slow to make chances and at least one of our wing backs should have been substituted about ten minutes into the second half and Paddy O'Loughlin. Taking off Mulcahy who had scored a goal and four points looked a very odd decision.

As far as you were concerned we hadn't a hope last year either..."
A bit rich considering his own team could struggle past Carlow at home the last day.

Replying To ballydalane:  "I knew there'd be a reaction from Cork but didn't think they'd knock over the all-Ireland champions in their own backyard. Reality check for Limerick, when you wear the crown, teams double their efforts against you - everyone wants to beat the all Ireland champions.

Sometimes losing badly is a blessing in disguise, Limerick are good enough to bounce back and I hope they do. I thought Jackie Tyrell's assertion that they weren't in the "top 3" contenders was ridiculous at the time and I'd hate to think he was right."
Thanks Ballydalane. Insightful and generous comment- But of course in my experience Kilkenny hurling fans are always magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat.
