The Sunday Game - Awful Coverage

Replying To Sean.66:  "Despise Dolan just loves the Dubs and must wish he had never anything to do with Westmeath.... he is a total bore as a co commantator but then again RTE is laden down with these type of guys"
Awful comment there about Dessie wishing "he had never anything to do with Westmeath". He gave great service to his county over many many years, winning a Leinster senior, an all-Ireland Under 21, two Leinster Under 21s and a few league medals as well. Why would have wished to have nothing to do with them? What's your problem Sean.66?

Both won the All Ireland this decade. Between Cavan and Armagh one All Ireland has been won since 1952.

No problem with any of the other pundits commentating from the actual counties they are from though no?

Ger Canning is single-handedly trying to change the pronunciation of Oisin to "Owsheen" because the poor Corky thinks it's more D4. This from a supposedly fluent Gaelgeoir.

So who are 'these type of guys' and who are the alternative guys you think should be used instead?

Oh there is a problem with that, it shouldn't happen. Likewise a commentator from a county shouldn't be commentating on their county's game. We'll leave that to local radio.

Why are lads giving out about Ger Canning? A true professional and a great Irishman. Any weekend where Brolly is hidden away is a good one. Joe must be red in the face after Paul Geaney's performance whom he said had nothing to offer Kerry and Mayo are back in the hunt for a semi spot.

How does it suggest that he's friendly with them? That's a huge leap in reasoning and therefore meaningless.

Ah sure most opinions are meaningless in fairness. It just sounds strange to me. When Dublin play it's Dean does this, Dean does that. When Donegal play it's Michael Murphy does this or that. Plus he's always along with Daragh Moloney for Dublin games and it is like a Dublin love in with the two of them.
It is quite clear RTE want Dublin to get their five in a row but they could be a little bit more discreet about it

Discreet about What? I can't say I've seen anywhere RTE advocating for a 5 in a row. The conspiracy theories are certainly whirling around on overtime in your head there ;)

I felt that Sunday panelists were insulting to Meath, they talked about Mayo before the game, at halftime and after the game and seemed to forget that Meath were also there to play, barely a word was spoken about the royal county, O'Rourke must have been going daft listening to all the talk about Mayo

Those two do the 4pm football game on Sunday no matter who plays but sure you fly away on your little tangent there. It's as clear as dish water. Nice try though.

You do realise that what result "RTE" want in the AI has zero effect on the results?

I love Dessie criticising other forwards , he must forget some of his own performances against Meath and Dublin.

Not a fair comment. He was an top class player like his cousin Frankie but just because he wasn't from the Kingdom he's not entitled to a key commentary position. I'll bet you were wondering what Ciaran Whelan was doing in The SG last Sunday. Two Kerrymen weren't enough. They should have put Pat Spillane on as well maybe and make it an all Kerry affair?

McStay is the only pundit I'd bother listening to from the old guard. He actually had the guts to go and manage inter county unlike some glaringly obvious people that have got too comfy in the studio

Taught rte scored a major own goal showing the dublin v Tyrone game on rte 2 and rte news in Irish commentary, and didn't bother to show cork v roscommon on tv at all. Both games were meaningless as regards progress to the semis but at least cork and roscommon had there full teams out, rte should of had the decency to show it on rte news out of respect to both counties, Taught all super eight games were to be shown live on tv.

All i heard today was Brolly giving out about the super8s because the strong will get stronger and that we need a 2nd tier...i am starting to think the GAA are telling RTE what to promote and encourage
