The funniest element in last evening's coverage imo was Spillane & Brolly intimating that Tyrone were 'not great', because they weren't deploying mass defense. We were even shown clips of where Colm Kavanagh 'normally is'. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, with football currently. Couldn't agree more. You would wonder do they know there making a show of themselves?

haha i saw that coming and it's fair from ur point of view too...but my point still stands - they're two separate sports and dont need to be the same program.

The bottom line is the majority of the top Hurling teams were out in action this week in most cases against other top teams, that deserves hands down to be shown again on TSG evening programme as opposed to low end football matches. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 1893 - 13/05/2019 13:16:46 2183635 Link 0 |
I'm only codding, I love the big ball aswell, but you get my point. If on a Monday or Tuesday night they could do separate shows of extended highlights, that'd be the dream scenario I guess. Or maybe have all hurling on Saturday and all football Sunday, and then the other way around every other weekend, then you could have The Saturday Game and The Sunday Game, both being able to concentrate on one code every week. I'm surprised the GAA hasn't looked into live streaming of matches for less successful teams aswell. extranjero (Wexford) - Posts: 375 - 13/05/2019 13:28:33 2183642 Link 1 |
How can the Sunday Game cover 12 senior matchs that were on the weekend? OpenStand (Limerick) - Posts: 658 - 13/05/2019 13:29:08 2183643 Link 1 |
Equipment, camera crew, sound crew, optional commentator, technical heads to stream it. Might get a few volunteers. Or do it to at least look a bit professional, get sponsorship, wouldn't be cheap.

They showed 2 mins of ros game to, then after talked only about how it was great for Leitrim to get to Croke Park few weeks ago, then about a tiered championship. Never mentioned Ros and the way the professional display they put on.

Two of the matches were shown live so no need to show it again. People from Louth Meath, Offaly, Roscommon, Leitrim- I could go on! were more interested in watching their respective counties than watching any of the top 8 hurling matches

Perhaps the problem lies with the GAA rather then RTE, I'm sure they would show extended highlights if they could

So the Sunday Game showed little interest in this game! What was the attendance? Big crowd travel from Louth? Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1410 - 13/05/2019 14:10:04 2183663 Link 0 |
The comments on here are hilarious. Reminding me not to get any of you lads to run a company for me. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7831 - 13/05/2019 14:13:02 2183665 Link 2 |
PK57 I couldn't agree more with you. I only commented last night that the commentary on the Louth wexford match sounded like they went out and got a guy on the street and asked to commentate on the 2 minute segment. It was farcical. Equally I have said it for some time why re show matches first that were shown live earlier in the day - it defies logic. As for the constant reminders of how brillant hurling is week after week is tiresome at this stage. Analysis on the football is very poor. The analysis by most pundits is illogical and often contradictory. Equally it is tailored to suit what county it is being targeted at. A complete revamp is required for the show's 41st year. wicklowsupport (Wicklow) - Posts: 1890 - 13/05/2019 14:20:12 2183670 Link 3 |
Fair enough point, but TG4 managed to stream fitzgibbon cup semi finals using only one camera and two fellas on commentary, its not impossible. Its the way the GAA are going to have to go given the sheer amount of games.

Yeah right. Remind me which is by far the more popular game???

Stop crying just because hurling has it's equal share of games now, before the coverage was dominated by football

As Colm Parkinson pointed out, Laois and Offaly hurlers are possibly number 11 and 12 in the country and played out a high scoring draw that was by all accounts a thriller yet it didnt even get a mention on the Sunday Game. A disgrace given how hurling at this level needs all the publicity it can get. ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 693 - 13/05/2019 19:56:25 2183796 Link 0 |
