Not often we see the Wicklow footballers racking up a score of 9-20. Well done to the Garden County minors and fair play to Kilkenny tonight.

Agreed. Very happy to live on our side of the N81. Bring on their seniors!
In fairness, they weren't pushed over by our lads and certainly had a fantastic year last year so rivalries aside, it's good to see positive developments made by counties perceived to be weaker.

Every need to rub it into a county which is non GAA only interested in hurling and glory. Kilkenny is not a GAA county its a hurling county at odds with the aims of the association. Let me remind you Kilkenny has a bigger population than Laois, Offaly or Westmeath all three of whom are proper GAA counties promoting both coses.

Bon, you need to give your posts a bit more thought if that is the best you can come up with. We are attempting to develop new players for the future as we don't have much to follow at senior level presently. Hopefully we can keep it going at underage and maybe get to play kildare again later in the championship. It is not nice to see Kilkenny take a beating like this especially as they are trying to get football established in a very strong hurling environment. DJ and his team are to be commended for fielding a team as it can't be easy.

Agree with last post. Certainly ran Kildare very close and that result could have gone either way. Credit to Kilkenny for fielding a football team but there is a long road ahead for them and the best of luck to them in so doing.

Wicklow underage football has been decent lately. Pity the GAA won't give them a major packing financially like their neighbours get.

Our Minor hurlers have 6 wins from 6 in the Celtic Challenge. Finally some effort going into Wicklow teams from Age 14-18. I can tell you still that coaching underage in primary schools in Wicklow is sub-standard to non-existent. I can saw that having experienced standards in other counties.

Wicklow Minors beat Louth 5-18 0-10 last night. Now they play Dublin, who they beat last year, in this year's Leinster Quarter Final. To the Kildaremen mocking Wicklow, grow up.

Did you write that all by yourself.

Kildare is a county with a lot of strange things going on as well. ...

It's great to see the improvements, the future of hurling should be good with the two u21 all Ireland teams, the team that won the Celtic cup a few years back and now these two excellent teams but yes school coaching is still very poor and definitely needs a boost

Well done to the Wicklow minors, a lot of impressive results of late.

What's going on in the Garden county, is there a plan in place to improve the underage structures and hopefully start to challenege at senior level?

There's good potential in Wicklow, big population, plenty of interest in Gaa, borders Dublin, but they really have been starved of senior intercounty honours. Be nice to see them emerge as a threat.

Last two years, proper management team in place, good financial backing and most importantly talented young players. In the last two years we have beaten Dublin, Meath, Westmeath Louth in the Leinster Champion ship. We are also getting decent crowds following our teams. This is aided by the fact that we playing quality opposition and beating quality opposition. At least a bit of positivity for a change.

Things are certainly looking positive for the minors in Wicklow at the minute, hopefully a lot of these lads can keep going and progress onto the senior panel and make a difference.

Don't forget Carlow jobber we have smaller population than all the above. Yet we give it a go.
