Here are some other topics that I think are relevant. The Irish sports media is very Rugby orientated. Just look at the situation with the FAI at the moment. I know John Delaney is not worth the 300K+ he is on, it is silly money. But to cut funding for the great sport of football over this is madness. There is an agenda at play here.

Irish sports media is not good. It is too middle class, too p.c. We need good Republican posters who will call out the Yes men in the Irish media, including Hoganstand. Slán

I do zip past them too.

Listen, I'm sure what furlong doesn't know about gaa football, I could write on the back of a stamp. He has encyclopedic knowledge.

The issue is..... how many people willingly pick up and start reading an encyclopedia In their spare time ? Not many.

I read one or two posts, but now i just cant be bothered which is a bit sad considering the time and effort he goes to but I've no interest in what happened in gaa circles or who won what in the 20s or 30s

Grand no personal issues or identifiable persons but surely genuine heart felt commentary or slagging can still pass muster. It's what we say in the local and is just banter.
Why can't one be critical anymore without offending???"
I for one would leave HS if it went down the Twitter "banter" meme, Gif , Hill 16/Mayo banter route. Cant stand the toxicity on them sites.

To be honest, and im not been big headed, but I go one to HS to have an intelligent, thoughtful discussion on all things GAA whilst still having a bit of fun. I feel most on here are experienced enough GAA men/women involved in clubs etc and know what they are talking about. Sometimes things go asway but that happens in public forums.

Things will pick up when championship starts, always does.

Listen fair enough. A few points though, I didnt copy and paste the above message. I rarely copy and paste. Only when I paste something on Hogan Stand main forum I might put it on Meath forum. But other then that I dont.
It always surprise me the reaction to my posts. I am marmite. Some people like what I do. Which always surprises me and I always appreciate. And others really dislike.l them. There is no in between. I can be very hit and miss. Some what I write is decent I get praise from guys on the forum and then I go off on a tagent. What I will say I am probaly not as repetitive as u think. Ur right not to read it. Definatly recommend that if u dont like it. But when ur not reading them u dont see I am not as repetitive as u think. Some decent enough posts. If that doesnt sound to cocky . Anyway enough about me.
(Just I wasnt acussing of yourself being on twitter I was just making a general point most of my post was a general point. )
I will leave it there I would rather be a viewer then participants. I like to come on now and again. I will take a break now and back in a few months to cause more trouble. I am on site now and again very sporadically, every couple of months. But when I come back, I will try to be less repetitive and less long winded in the future. However if Meath have a good season and we achieve the greatest shock of all time and beat Dubs in leinster final well the essays will be never ending and take days to read and be unbearable to say the least.
Anyway no hard feelings. I respect all gaa supporters also. and that includes two great kildare supporters called Kildare73 and kildarekelly and a Dub called Waynol. No hard feelings guys . Peace.

Yes some of what you write is definitely decent, like us all, and I only zip by what is already familiar to me from your previous writings. And when I say copy and paste, I meant repetition, not literally copy and pasting. And if Meath beat Dublin in the Leinster Final you are well within your rights to write as much as you want because you will have great material and I will read it all my friend. Absolutely no hard feelings.

Mick I totally was saying that tongue in cheek. I am under no illusions if Meath play Westmeath ( and we have to play Carlow first and that will be tricky ) but if we play Westmeath it will be very tough game and the more I think of it a 50 50 game. U guys r flying two trophies in the bag already. And Cooney looks a good manager. And after 2015 we are very wary of u guys in Iarmhi. So if u guys beat laois and we beat Carlow, Im sure it will cracking game with point or two between teams. Meath and Westmeath games r always great games and u always throw the kitchen sink at us. So I dont think any Meath supporter is now saying we r leinster final. We have improved , but so have Westmeath . we r going in right direction , so r Westmeath. So if we do play u guys in semis as a Meathman I will be going up to Croker anxious and hoping for victory and of course I think we can win but am I certain of it , absolutely not. We are a bit ahead of you guys but it will be 50 50 game.
I hope that clarifys my early comment.

I've stopped posting as much as I used to on here. For me I think it's been the predictability of the football championship the last few years. New year, same outcome means the same threads from the same posters rear their head every year ie "Is this Dublin team the greatest ever?", "split Dublin in two", "do Dublin have an unfair advatage" or else its endless appreciation threads of how many medals and trophies this or that player has.

Hats off to Dublin for what they have achieved but it's got to the stage that there is only one team who can win the AI. The rest of Ireland haven't been able to step up. The hype of other counties is barely non existent because they know that if Dublin are at their best there will only be one winner. I think the Super 8s have added to this inevitability. It has killed the notion of catching the champions cold. HS has suffered for this as well as attendances for CERTAIN matches at Croker. It's hard to get excited about seeing the same thing so often.

Furlong. Surprised you have written off my own county, Offaly, who face Meath in Navan on 12th May. I accept Meath are favourites, as they had a good league, winning promotion to Division 1.
We have nothing to lose, and will give it our best shot.
Enjoy your informative posts, keep it up.

Thanks for the comments thelongridge. I appreciate it.

We never underestimate the Faithful county in Meath what u guys did to us in 1997 and 2000. If u dont mind me saying I think we would provaby have to much for Offaly currently. And yes Offaly will put it up to us , and it must be said we arent a good team yet to take anyone likely. Give a performance like we did last year v Cavan or Tippearey or even longford. Well then Offaly will have another famous victory over the Royals. But just at the moment I think we are ahead. But I can ensure we never underestimste the Faithful county.

Offaly , a great gaa country with great tradition. One of my favourite gaa counties outside Meath. Matt Connor for me is the most talented gaelic footballer of all time. He was George Best of gaelic football. What balance he had.The only player I saw with balance similar was Colm Cooper and even Cooper wasnt at Matts level. Seems like good work being done at underage in Offaly. Offaly minor and under 21 under 20 teams seem.stronger. And young Cian Johnston looks exceptional talent Carrying on the great tradition of great Offaly forwards eg Tony McTeague Brendan Lowry Matt Connor Vinny Claffey Peter Brady and Niall McNamee. It wud be great to see Offaly back.

Dont bother. Just go back and read what I actually said instead of playing the victim once you hear your county being mentioned. I praised Dublin and said it was more down to the rest of Ireland for not stepping up. This is my personal opinion of why I dont find it as interesting as it used to be on here. Your million examples are part of the reason I dont post as much on here anymore
