It seems strange the decision to take the second teams out of the various championships. From what I can tell Dunboyne and Ashbourne will be coming out of intermediate, Summerhill, Kells, Seneschalstown, Tones, Skyrne, Dunsghaughlin, O'Mahonys, and Na Fianna will come out of Junior and from Junior B will come Ratoath, Trim, and the other second teams. The powerhouse of Meath club football has spoken.. Such arrogance from a club when only a few years ago all those North Meath clubs were beating you!!

Fair to say the dominance of South meath football is only starting, and down to one reason only, a population explosion. I can see the same thing happening to club football here that happened with the Dubs winning the last 5 Ai. I fear the likes of Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dublnboyne, Cilles will takeover Meath football due to the population surges that they're experiencing. Even Navan clubs will be left in their wake. I definitely fear for the future of rural North Meath GAA clubs. More lads these days are choosing to move to Dublin to go to college and work, in comparison to 20 years ago where club players would be mostly doing apprenticeships and living at home. North Meath clubs will struggle further in the future, and there's not a lot that the GAA can do about this. Clan play Leinster hurling next sat.. whoever wins Wednesday will play in Leinster junior football the following sat... so not much wriggle room...
